An ORIGINAL title is what interests me the most. Do you know how many friggin "Alone"/"Why?"/"Suicide Letter"/"Violets are red, violets are.." ya da ya da ya da poems i've come across? It's very unappealing.. |

The title is the first thing that catches the eye, draws me in. Secondly, that first, opening line is very important as far as making me want to read more. The first line forms your expectation for the rest of the poem. A good, great first line can and does create excitement as to how good the poem your reading shall be, while a poor, bad one kills a readers enthusiasm and expectation for the poem being read. And as to what keeps you interested and makes a poem worth wild, as one (me) continues reading past the title and that initial first line, basically it’s how the poem flows, it’s over all rhythm, whether that be in the rhyming pattern (scheme), the rhyme choice, the word choice, or its arrangement as far as how it individual parts are put together. How well a poem is structured is very important, and how well it is written is always a factor. A poem that holds your attention is a poem that seems easy to read, because it just flows so well and is so well written!!! |

The title, if it's original or if I feel like it talks about me or someting going on in my life. |
