Bob, wouldn't matter if he wrote the same thing on an earlier date. According to the U.S. copyright laws, as far as internet goes, if you post it on the internet it isnt copyrighted until you print out a hard copy as well. So no matter what you write, it won't be copyrighted unless you also have a hard copy. That is why I always have several copies. on the internet and on paper. My Cse teacher just went over it in class the other day. Sounds kind of outrageous, but hey, if it is a law then it goes. |

Ismail, it doesn't neccessarily matter what the site says because each country has different rules for the internet. There are no universal internet laws. Internetlaws in teh U.S. are different than internet laws in the U.K. I stated one of the laws in the United States which says that you have to have a hard copy to go along with teh internet copy for it to be copyrighted. Because Bob lives in the U.S. and I suppose this other kid does too, then it will be the U.S. rules we are following. |

Ismael, if someone had a house in international waters, with a satellite internet connection, and he plagarizes, who is going to enforce that really? There is nobody to. And what about a third worl country that doesn't have the same rules that the U.S. and Europe have? Europe's rules don't govern everywhere in the world. If someone plagarizes that, in a book, and they live in a third world country without the same internet copyright laws, then there is nothing your european government can do about it, except ban the book, and there is nothign my American government can do, because there are no universal laws. Both your government and mine cannot enforce our internet laws in china, international waters, or anywhere else with different laws for that matter. |

I have read the site rules, and I know the laws of my country, which say you also have to have a hard copy for it to be legally copyrighted. You know what that means, I can complain in my court system all i want to, but it won't make a difference if i dont have a hard copy. To have a poem copyrighted that i put on the internet i have to print out a hard copy as well. These are the laws in my country, which Bob lives in. It is not the same for you Ismail. You can probably just post your poems and they are copyrighted. I have to print mine out and post them, then mine are copyrighted to the date i post them, why I don't know; it is ridiculous, but that is our law. |
