well its the breastcancer fundraising time around here in NZ, and theyre selling pink bands for $3 and badges/pins for $4. Proceeds go to research for breastcancer. But ome people I know are against this, theysay it goes towardsanimal testing. What are your thoughts on this.

Im pro-animal testing, provided it is necessary. Cancer is a traumatising illness that affects millions of people. or a woman to lose a breast would be devestating. urely if we can do something tostop future generation from going through such a devestating illness with no cure, shouldnt we go for it?

did u know that brocolli prevents cancer?
I say that eat your brocolli and spare the poor little monkeys.
If if u have to animal-test, then remember the anesthetic, because most animal-testing labs dont.

    Brocolli prevents cancer? Unlikely!

I am against animal testing in any way, shape or form for any purpose. I could spend hours listing my reasons but I'm lazy so I won't ;) Let's just say I am COMPLETELY anti-animal cruelty and anti-vivisection!

I love animals and I know that the people who test them are exceptionally cruel. If you still believe in animal testing you should try to read a book called The Naked Empress, about someone who spied on an animal-testing lab and took pictures. its true.
I almost vomited when I saw it.
There are lots of sites that have pictures of animal-experiments, go google.
You probably won't be so keen about animal testing after you see what really happens

Mmm how does animal testing help research breast cancer? I don't get it. Not just breast cancer animal testing but all animal testing. I mean, sure they can simulate human diseases then test out vaccines and medicines etc on the animals but animals bodies are very very different to ours, so I don't know how they can get an accurate result, which would mean that it is pointless and unnecessary.

Also, surely by now scientists are quite aware of what is dangerous to the human body and what isn't and so can avoid making make-up, medicine etc that is harmful to humans. So then would there be no need to test it on animals for allergic reactions and such? With all the fancy gadgets and machines they have these days you would think animal testing would again be unnecessary?

Hmm, anyway, as I've already said I am completely against animal testing. It's disgusting, cruel, and pointless.

Okay, here's my stand. I've been involved with AR for a while now, and lots of people have asked me these sorts of questions (along with "would you eat meat if you were gunna die?" "would you save you cat b4 ur sister?") and so I've thought about it for a looong time. I think that you should donate/support reaserch that doesn't test on animals, that way your not hurting animals AND helping people. Lots of people think I put animals over people by not supporting organizations like March Of Dimes (http://marchofcrimes.com/) because they "save lives" but in reality, animal testing isn't helping at all, It's just wasting lives, and is sometimes harmful to humans (http://www.peta.org/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=126) so try and support breast cancer charities that DONT test on animals! so ur helping EVERYONE!
