    A have a funny sentence in Spanisjh ... In my school's spanish lessons we had to listen to a tape and it said:

    Actividad, dos. Escucha la cinta...

    The voice always made me laugh :D

    I know how annoying was it! Still makes me laugh. It's been like 3 years since we had a Spanish lesson but me and a friend still walk round school going "Actividad dos..." hehe.

    Kim, it is not thinta, but cinta. I reckon your tapes are from Spain, that accounts for the accent. and by the way, Castilian is not a funny language. German- verkaufen (to buy), etc etc etc...

    umm Kleinjan.. its a dutch last name and it means little john and winkleman, lol thats an unfortunate last name too... but they aren't counted as words are they?
    dich/dick is fat in German... i can still remeber the teacher ranting fat dick fat dick to drum it into our heads at the top of her lungs lol

    MoshiMoshi - people in japan say this when they answer the telephone. it's like saying, "Hello?"

    Yukkuri hanashi te kudasa... one of my faveourite phrases. means, "Can you speak slowly?"

    habichuelas (sp?) in spanish, say it really fast and it sounds like a sneeze. It only means 'beans' but my whole class likes the word.

    Last year our class had a tape of a parrot voice singing the names of spanish-speaking countries. "Son los paises en el mundo donde habla espanol! OLE!" So funny, even that early in the morning.

    actually, i took german too, and Kugelschreiber means literally, "Ball writer!"

    and i think the funniest word i heard was...

    kaugummi (pronounced Cow Goomee)

    and it means chewing gum.

    Darn PygmyPuff! That was mine... Oh well, that is what my french teacher did also, in 7th grade.. The whole class was all gasp, until we learned that it was seal..

    Now mine shall be.... かるぴす or, calpis. In america it is known as Calpico..If you say it kind of fast, it sounds like cow piss. ((I speak japanese!! wooooo))

    actually HansRik, I am definitely going to have to disagree with you on the Castilian comment. I think Castilian is a hilarious language! Did you know it originated from a Spanish King who had a lisp and it became the courtly fashion to speak with a lisp? Well now you know. The reason why Castilian still exists and has not been replaced with reg. Spanish beats me. Adios.

    Oh..hahha, reminds me when the person teaching me martial arts gave me a nickaname.. neko ashi, which he thought meant cat. Anyway, it means "cat leg," because he had gotten japanese name for cat off of one of the exercises, which he thought was called cat... funny, anyhow.
