3 pupils in a average schoo class in the uk cut themselfs

i think this is really bad, i heard on the radio that 3 pupils at least in a class in the UK cut themselfs and the UK is the ment to be the most place for young people to cut themselfs, a few of my friends have been throught this so i know this is true, does anyone else think this is terrible?

there are 6 people in my class (who i no of) who self harm, myself included. we all have our reasons but to people who self harm cutting is normal and we cant see why people make such a fuss.

Well someone was saying to pull up old cutting threads cuz there were too many, so many that was what Sam did. It is an imporant bit of imformation all the same.

It gets old...the whole cutting threads. I can actually say that I am ashamed of my generation.

ok, im gonna ask a really, really stupid question lol. The people who got these statistics, how the hell do they know??? i mean they don't send around questionaires do they... do they just guess or something? hmm....
i would say that sounds about right though, for years 9 and above anyway (third years and above), but there are certainly only a couple in my year who do, and my year has 160 people in it or something. so i really think it depends, but the numbers get higher as the years do. i just find it sad that people are drwan into this addiction so young, i think it is sick to be seen as a trend. but everycase is different, and not all young people are doing it for trends, im certainly not doing it for that reason anyway and the people in my year arent... XXX

That is true in some cases. Take for example this girl in my year who said to someone "I'm so gothic my wrists slit themselves" and she also gets a marker out and writes on her arm "slit here later". Its so pathetic and to the people who cut who are not attention seeking it is very agitating since it gives us a bad name. Like people think all cutters are goths/want to kill themselves now in my school. Its annoying!!!!!

But we dont deserved to be labelled goths, emos or suicidal.

I wouldn't say thats true in my school cuz I am only 1 of two people I know who cut.

I know tons of people in my school and highschool who have cut or do cut, its a bit outrageous. But what can I say. Its put out there like all other things, so being of human mind, people are curious. And you know what they say "Curiousity killed the cat"

So far I know at least..3 possible cutters in my class, myself being one of them. But everyone agrees I'm the worst one =S I don't see how I can be the worst, doing it at all is bad.

its terrible but sadly true, i cut and i know 1 other person in the class im in atthe moment thatdoes cut!

Everybody's talking about how people in their class or whatever only do it to follow the "trend". Probably more than 90% of the people who post about it do it for that reason, that's how it sounds to me anyways. Just an opinion, not meant to offend. Happy Heart Day.

Wow. I know two people that cut. I know one person that cuts for attention. This is out of my whole year level of about 70, and we do know each other pretty well. Either they are really good at hiding it or we aren't that bad. Who knows.
