    True that is what he said, but he also aid that in our lifetime there is no escaping from the cave. We are in it until we die, and after death we will realize the universe and everything for what it truly is.

    The idea was that the freed man would see it for what it is, but no one would be free as long as they live on earth, because then they are always seeing a shadow. The idea that you see the world through societies impressions on you, what other people tell you, your own biases, etc, etc. the only way you get rid of these is when you die. I'm just saying how it was explained to me. Take what you want, leave the rest. But if your writing a paper on it you can say that someone will never truly be freed to view the world until they die because of the things I just told you. That would make a damn good paper and I bet your teacher would be impressed.
