Sadness related to acceptance...?

Im someone who constantly smiles as a defence mechanism, over time its just become who i am. i dont really let anyone in, not even close friends. The thing is, the other day my friends said that I was 'always angry' on the inside and that it was unhealthy. This not only really hurt me, but got me thinking (and when i think, I voerthink...and me overthinking, is VERY bad!). Anyway and I started getting EXTREMELY sad over the mere fact she said that, what kinda hurt me more...was that it was somewhat true and I felt almost violated that something I tried to hide was just exposed like that. I know its a really strange topic to deal with but has anyone ever gotten sad over something that theyve somehow KNOWN but once it was confirmed by someone else it really hit you?

If that friend was able to see the truth behind your fake smile, that means this person really understands you, and knows you better than you think. I'd say that you can trust this person, and try talking with him/her about what bothers you. It just might be what you need.
