The quote above implies that:
1) Either writing free verse is too easy or
2) Writing free verse is very difficult as there are no specific rules or guidelines to follow.
I feel that poetry must flow as freely as it needs to, or it will be too constricted. Some prefer to rhyme, some do not. Similarly, rigid structures provide a basic guideline on how to write, and at times may facilitate the choice of words (the Ballade, for example needs a refrain.) On the other hand, we may assume that this makes the development of the poem even harder. As most of you can see, the quote has several implications. What are your opinions on this 700th post? Is it easy to write free verse?
