What do you guys think of Nostradamus?

  • Steven Beesley

In fact it is viewed by many that only 5 -10% of his predictions have been fulfilled with 100% certainty.

  • Bill Turner

So....10% of the time, he was 100% accurate?

  • Bret Higgins

no, 10% of the time his rambling can be fitted in with an event that happened.

Take hallucinogens, chant your way into a trance and then write down your experiences in cryptic form. They'll correlate in some form with things that have happened or will happen.

    Life's like that.

In any case, Mayan predictions have been more accurate, and they predicted the end of this cycle (life) as we know it on the 22nd of December, 2012... Now, that is freaky!

I think the question is what do you think of nostradmus. People say he predicted jfk's assasination and the world trade center bombings. Here is something along the lines of what he predicted. A powerful man will be killed by a thunderstick. Well damn, if that doesn't describe every political assasination ever.
And about the world trade center he said something like two great mountains will fall. What the hell. He didn't predict shit, just rambled. He may have seen things, but he really didn't tell you anything. And he saw things because of drugs.

I was recently scanning through the channels on TV when I came across Nostradamus - 2012 on the History channel. Talk about the past, this guy was a genius for his time. Constructing predictions of the future from the stars from what scientists say. Drawings and books filled with info in which are detailed in how and when life will so called come to an end. This is not just another history theory (even though it really is to an extent) where they are just putting parts together to make it sound like the end of the world; This is just one guy who has made notes upon notes about how and when catastrophy will happen leading up to the end of the world, and it all points to Dec. 21, 2012.

What are your thoughts on this? Will it happen? Can we stop it if it does happen? or is this just another conspiracy theories?

Wonder what made both the Mayans and Nostradamus both predict it is all over in 2012?

Did either one say what was going to be our fate? An asteroid or comet? The sun will explode? Glacial ice will met enveloping the earth? A nuclear war?

A fight about clocks? I think it was a joke misunderstood........

"Wonder what made both the Mayans and Nostradamus both predict it is all over in 2012?"

^It could all be a bunch of government propaganda that is meant to scare and control the masses.....

According to the Maya, the "future" which lies beyond this end date is literally "a new world age" - "a new creation."

Thus the December 21, 2012 AD is not the day where all of the sudden a light switch will flip on and everything will change, rather, we are NOW in the process of this transition from one World Age to the next. The changes are underway and will continue steadily accelerating as we head towards the culminating date!

Nostradamus's favorite technique for predicting the future was gazing into any surface until images appear. He would look into a bowl of water and fall under a trance. When he came out of the trance he would find that he had written a quatrain of the events he had seen. A quatrain is a four line poem. Go figure Nostradamus was a poet as well...

    Mwa!!

What most of you don't understand is that the Mayan's had a whole different view on death and life than we do.

Soo, when they say the world will go through a death, or the human race will suffer death..what they really mean is a change, because for them many things could die without anyone actually dying.

Every change had some death in it for them..the death of night to day for example.

So, in 2012 something massive might change...but it doesn't mean the world is going to end...or we are.

Even historically, the world has been about to end for a long time...2000 anyone? 2001? end of the world...

    again.

    mwa...mwa ha.

(Joe you sneaky dog you!!! posting my ideas from the club in here a second before I did...grrr)

A solar eclipse and galactic alignment will happen during the winter solstice in the year 2012...it only happens once every 26,000 years...each defining a new age.

Armaggedon week on the History Channel is deff. interesting although a majority of the stuff shown are Theroies, however; we do know for a fact that in the year 2012 there will be a solar eclipse and galactic alignment will happen during the winter solstice around Dec. 21st...it only happens once every 26,000 years, and it is predicted that it has been 26,000 years come 2012...each time this happens it defines what we call a new age of exsistance.

"and the Earths poles completely switch around. "

Lets hope that isn't so Britt lol

"Just about the time of 2012 Winter Solstice, the Sun's poles will switch back. During this switch there will be a tendency for the Sun's magnetic field to pull the Earth's field with it.

If the Earth's magnetic poles switch, this would put stress on the planet aggravating earthquakes and volcanoes, not to mention destruction of the electrical power distribution grid. And, if the switch happens fast enough don't ever expect your computer to work again. But if you have old tube type equipment, keep it. It should survive just fine. It will work if you can find electricity. "

Um, why is an old thread resurfaced? Surely you could have made another one?

Its funny, I see Nostradamus, as a person who has a very vivid imagination, which turned into a series of concidences.

But lets not forget that some of his ramblings are derived from the bible and other apocalypse mythologies.

As for the mayans, their view on the world's end came true. They're civilization, religion and very existance has been wiped off existance. Courtesy of the spanish, you gotta love em.

I think we shouldn't believe in divinations of the world's death. But I can see why the world is scared of 2012...

Seeing the Logo of the London Olympics would scare anyone. Lol..

I think in 2012, we'll have a global financial depression. God help us all...

Is there actually any proof that the way we count dates / years are correct?

Isn't there some group of people who say the world will end at some other such date because the romans added some months into the year so technically a year is only ten months. in which case we're actually a few years ahead of ourselves? Or something.

    I hope that makes sense!
Plus, who even decided that a year would be twelve months long and that a day was 24 hours. I mean, we could add an extra hour into everyday if we wanted to.

AND, if the world is going to end december 2012 then does that mean that australia will end before the UK because they will get to 12th Dec before we do because of time lines?

I think that it's a heap of lies.

    I think Nose..tradamus had a big nose..

In fact it was Carlo Collodi who really wrote his predictions, Nostradamus who being schooled by Geppetto took up his mantle and shared his thoughts.

I have always thought that a poet who could write quatrains that predicted events would have no problem breacking into the mainstream media
