Question about "Top rated recent poems" list

Just a question about how it picks what poems go on there, because i have seen poems with a rating of 2.3 that are weeks old. in what way does that fit the criteria of "top rated" or "recent" ???

I have a poem in the sadness section that has made "top rated recent", but then i wrote a poem about friendship that didnt make the list and is yet more recent and higher rated.

Just really wondering how the whole thing works?

It's complicated, and rather like the mystery of faith...being a mortal you'd never understand it.

Only Elves know the truth....and we never tell.

Except once...but she was soooooo hot.

What do you mean by content?

And if its not about rating, in what way is it "top rated" ???

    Hmm...

How does the site pick content? That doesnt seem like a logical way of doing it. As far as i can see they are only putting poets with a certain amount of awards on the "top rated" list which doesnt seem to giver the term "top rated" much justice. Does it assume that the more awards you have the better your poem is? To me that seems unfair to the newer members with good poetry and no awards. It's all speculation so i could be totally wrong.

Like i said, im speculating. But if you notice everyone on the list has at least one award. And some of the more popular lists are dominated by members with at least silver awards in all categories.

I dont see how an automated system can read a poem for "content" and again I wonder how it can be called "top rated" when some of the actual top rated poems will never be seen on the list.

Thanks Bob, i agree with you about the fairness of the voting system, but that still doesnt explain how it works now? Or is it way too complicated to explain?

I didn't mean to claim favortism, i was only speculating on a pattern that i saw within the lists.

I can see what you mean now, about standing. That seems like a much better way of creating the list confusing as it may be.

When you say time, do you mean time of membership or amount of time the poem has been on the site? because i can see problems with it being "recent"

ah so what you are saying is a high vote from a high standing member is better then the same vote from a low standing member. i understand now.

It's like in the movie Willow where the little dwarf dude is asked by the head wizard dwarf dude which finger controls the world...and the little dude thinks at first to pick his own finger...but he doesn't...he picks one of the outstretched ones of the wizard.
