    blah blah blah

just name your top 3 favorite poets. that is all that this forum is asking for. we all know that there are a lot of unknown talented poets. and we all do know that the poets who most people consider the best are the popular ones.

    the end.

I'm sure the maker of this thread was only interested in your opinions and not everyone blabbering about how you can't choose one poet, or no one here is a good poet. If they wanted to read something like that, the topic of this thread would be different. Now quit arguing and just lighten up.

I would say, in my opinion. Some of the best poets I have read are the younger kids, who put their hearts into their piece. Also, all the member of CC&P, only because I read their poetry often, and I haven't read every poet, so this is only my opinion. Thanks.

Everyone has their own way of being great at poetry
And you can't really narrow it down to just 3 because every single poem we write makes us that little bit better
And turns our pages onto another section of abilities

    anyway
so no i cant tell you who are the top three poets

Almost an impossible topic/question-there are just too many great poets on this site.Everyone has different opinions and likes different styles/subjects.I've always been a fan of free verse but this site has taught me to appreciate again the traditional forms and rhyming poems(though I've wrote some of both). It seems we can all relate to certain things-love, loss, heartbreak, alienation, ecstsy, depression, happiness, nature, political or social stuff, and of course religion, death, and life(and a lot of other things). There are some not so good poems on here, sometimes you must sift through a lot of dirt to find the diamonds, but when you do it is so wonderful, like reading a poem and saying"that's exactly how I feel" or being able to relate to something the poet is going through as you may have gone through something similiar.Though we write for many reasons, it is always warm and satisfying to touch the hearts and minds of others.I am impressed with many of the talented younger writers on this site, a new generation that shows great promise indeed. There are just so many good poets on here-impossible to choose the 3 best(or even the 50 best!), but as for my own personal favorites(and forgive me if I've left anyone out, which I'm sure to do, but you know who you are from my comments on your work), my favorites are as follows-STORMY, MEENA, MELISSA, BOB SHANK, ERELY, CHITCYN, STEVEN BEESLEY,TINY DANCER46, HOLLY ARMER, RAINBOW SLIDER, LAURA,SUNGRL, ARIA, KARLA GORDON, ARIANA, WEEPINGWOLF, SUNNY, ADEL, VIOLETRAVEN, SARAH,LAURA ANNE, T.MICHELLE SMITH, LINDA WOODEN,KIMI, SANDY,JACINTHE, KELLY KATHERINE,LOSTSOUL691,ROBERT GARDINER, LOSTMYEVERYTHING, JACKLYN, KARIN G, ASH BLEEDING BLACK ROSES, WHISPRE,IFOREVERPROMISE2,ANNE MARIE, JENNIFER BISEK, DAVID McINTOSH, JANET OWENBY,BRANDY,TIKI 74, LOVEEQUALSTEARS,BUTTERFLYBFREE,WILDCHILD,xxxJACKIExxx, NESHA,DANIA TERI,ANNE STAREYES,HEAVEN--and so many more!I have been touched by so many of these poets and their poetry, I can't say how glad I am to have made a comeback to the poetry scene(after a few years of being a recluse and shutting myself away from the poetry world) and how fortunate I was to find this site and all the fantastic poems I've read(and have been so touched/moved by) and the beautiful hearts and souls I've met.And I can't express my gratitude enough to those who have commented on my own work or contacted me.Thank You all.Again forgive me if I've left anyone out, you know who you are.

I suppose it isn't truly fair to do this...so many miss out.

My answer is: I have yet to find a piece of poetry that did not display something...some emotion of some kind.
Who are the best poets on this site?

    Find out for yourself.

Aww no one mentioned me... Anyway I have to say there are so many good poets on the site that I couldn't say who the best are. I will say my personal favourite poets are those on my favs list, however they have all already been mentioned so I won't bother putting their names again.
I do agree with Truest Lies though, it does seem unfair because some people get countless mentions while others may not get a mention at all. This is why I have not mentioned my favourite poets again.

I think this thread is a humourous read... I've not read nowhere near enough to comment on who's the best... not been here long enough either. I think it's hilarious that only on a poetry site (perhaps i'm wrong here, but the assumption is humourous) would people argue about the correct wording of the original question :p Lol... Assume the asker meant well and was assuming you'd just list of your own personal preferences - poetrys like music, taste will always be a defining factor - talent always recognized but not always the popular choice.

From what i've read? I'd say, Steve, Meena and Rosie were really interesting, but I haven't read too far outside that, I think I've read more good poetry here than I have bad, all of it inspiring and full of good ideas. I quite like listing the poems by rating and reading the lowest rated ones, I've found quite a few gems that way.. and it's always nice to comment and rate a poem that has had nothing... it feels like you're reading something completely undiscovered :) It seems quite precious and personal in an odd sort of way... just my take on it anway! Ciao! x

Not mad at all, it's your opinion of what you think is good or not.

I've seen MANY great poets on this site... some of my favorites would have to be:

    haybay (my sister)
    Endless Rapture
    Britt
    Natalie84
    Atomic
    Sunny
    Tisha

No, i just joke around with that. People don't really take it seriously anyway. i write because i like too, it doesn't matter to me how many people read my poems because over half of the time, they don't understand them.

i have thoguth about this question and i don't think that there is one single answer for it. Everyone brings something special to a poem and each and everyone is different. Some people can make you cry out with laughter when you read their work and some can leave you to think for ages. As long as you speak from your heart the poem doesn't have to be good to others it just have to be right for you.

  • Italian Stallion

    Everyone is.

Everyone has their own style of writing.

Poetry is a way for someone to express their feels, and if that person feels that they put their best effort into a poem, then so be it.

yes, there are some poets that are well defined, but in truth, you don't have to be a great poet to be recognized.

People will look at a poem that others might not like, and absoultly love it, it is all preferance.

All individuals think differently, therefore having their own opinion towards something.

    (I agree)

  • EoB

I disagree strongly to the apparantly common belief that everyone in here are the best poets, that no poets write better than others.

I have read poetry in there so bad, so utterly stripped of any orginality or poetic touch that it truly hurts to read it.

And I am not ashamed to say that. I will not suck up to the lot of you, telling you that you are all as good as any other.

    Because frankly, you simply aren`t.

I myself am not a fan of my own poetry. I truly believe that I have written some terrible pieces.

And I have read the works of some poets, thinking that I never will be able to write anything close to as good as their.

Look at FTS Miles, for instance. I think most poetry pales compared to his.

another brilliant poet is HansRik, I truly love his way with words.

Meena has written some amazingly beautiful pieces.

Jason Meres always impresses me with his poems.

Adel has some deeply romantic poems.

Robert Gardiner, like Adel, has written many captivating, romantic poems.

JHarrison has his unique, brilliant touch to poetry. Even though he writes of many various themes, I always think to myself as I read his poems; "This is definately JHarrison`s".

Bob Shank has written some great poems.

    I am tired now.
