A Thought Occured To Me

Maybe it would be nice if there could be a space to comment on quotes...

Too much trouble, do you think?

Anyway, I'd enjoy knowing what the person thought about the quote. Or maybe that would be unsuitable, as it would be a quote in itself.

good idea, but truthfully I think its a waist of time, i dont care for quotes much myself, and i never know what Im looking for in a quote.
    Good idea tho.

no to me i think it's better left alone. many of the quotes aren't by the poets that post them anyways. but i don't know that may just be me who doesn't think it's that great of an idea,

I suggested this some time ago, and I realised very few quotes are actually written by the persons who calim it to be theirs. I would like to comment on some of the quotes, but as you said back in the day, a greater hunt for plagiarisers would have to take place.

    "OWN" being the key word

It would not surprise me if that is the one sentence Bob uses most in here..

A requirement for all quotes to be original is in conflict with the definition of a quote. If it is required to be your own original words to be posted, it should be termed a pronouncement or dictum and not a quote.

A 'quote' by definition means words taken from another and cited or repeated.

when people post old quotes it drives me mental!! It's pathetic...i completely agree with bob and the others...if you want to submit quotes they should be your own. That's the whole purpose of this site...to post your ORIGINAL poems and quotes. Putting down other quotes that have been said many times before is simply boring and irritating for those of us who actually put some thought into making ORIGINAL quotes.

Not that I myself have anything good to say, but there are people on this site who do have some wisdom to share.

If you don't like the getting comments on your quotes idea, then simply ignore it. I just thought it would be nice to know why some quotes get a 3.2 while others stay at 5.0 all the time. For instance, what's so good, or so average, about that quote.
And also, when some quotes seem so touching to me, I would really like to tell the author that I really liked that poem.
Ok, from now on I'll just include a message in one of my comments.

sorry beth i got carried away with the whole people not having original quotes thing. I do agree with you. i think a place to comment on quotes would be a great idea. That way we could tell people why you like or in the case of plagiarists why we dislike their quote.

I agree with Mr. Shank. If you cannot be creative enough to come up with your own quotes why post them? It is demeaning to those who work hard to stay original and an injustice to those talented enough to come up with there own material. I do not see what the definition of a quote has to do with the matter. The whole point of the website is for writers to post poems and quotes of there own. For reference read the TERMS OF USE.

I think that's a great idea. Some of the quotes are really good and it will be nice to express our thoughts. Nice one...I like that.
