Is It Because I Am Black?

I find alot of people do not want to read my poems and i am just wondering if this might be the reason.

Yeah, my parents are both white which makes it harder for me. My momma says that life is like a box of chocolates and im the darkest one in the box. My papa says that god loves me reguardless and it dont matter about my color. I sure hope momma and popa are right.

I went to the tanning shop today and when i came out of the sun bed i didnt notice a difference. Even sunbeds are racist these days.

hey guys relax its not cus ur blsck a lot of ppl on here never get the chance to comment on everyones poems. I realized that after awhile. Its kind of hard with there being 909 members on this site and we will read them but rite now the poems are not working give it time. heather

Now now...whatever ANYBODY says...but believe you me...these two women yikyak and hayley are two of the best women ive met on this site...they're excellent poets...superb pals...and whats more...they're good humans...and if somebody discriminates against them due to their colour then they're doing the most despisable..most outrageous and heinious crime IMAGINABLE...black...so WHAT??i can understand their feelings becuz im a pakistani...and ive heard these racist shits as well...prejudice,discrimination...its something not quite alien to me either...i fail to understand why ppl judge others on the basis of their APPARENT traits such as race?WHY DO THEY FAIL TO LOOK WHATS BENEATH THE SKIN??
Besides...who gave the verdict that black's inferior ,white's superior? Is it written in some scripture that we got?? or is there some other reason i fail to comprehend?NO...its humans..its WE ourselves who set the standards...white over black...aryan over semite...THIS has to change...WE have to change...CAN any sensible human deny the fact that history has seen many a great men who did not fit in our lousy criterion based on appearances??the answer i think is quite obvious...

And even if now...after all this argument... the racist elements fail to reconcile themselves...then there's only one thing i can say.........

Race makes no difference. If people don't read your poems it's because they haven't seen or something. How the hell do people know what race you are? This is internet...no one can see. AND if people DO know and THAT'S the reason...then they are stupid because its all about what's in the heart. If someone is being racist then they are f*ucking morons and shouldn't be on here anyway. I can't stand people who are racist. I think its the STUIPDEST thing on the f*cking planet!! Anyway, I'm sorry your poems aren't being read. Please don't ever think it has something to do with that. I'd say just to not let it bother you, but coming from another white guy, I can't really know what it's like. Just remember that not all people discriminate, those that do aren't worth your time anyway.

I don't think it's because you are black... I'm not black, I'm hispanic, and I read everyones work because I love poetry, I don't care who writes it, but I see your point, but I also get rude comments and low votes, maybe it's cause I'm not good, or we just have haters on this web...we'll never know, but keep writting, if it's what you like. =)

I don't mean to make light of the issue of racism... it is a very serious issue... and I have very little patience with people that are racists... the color of a person's skin... (as well as their religion they practice, their gender, their age, their sexual orientation) should not be a factor in deciding which poems you read

Well stormy I disagree. Must we all go through our entire lives wathcing what we say because it might offend some one, because it's getting to that point. Everyone has to be careful what they say becuase "it might offend someone". Is that how you want to live your life? If so then fine do it but let the rest of us be free to say what we wish when we wish. I'm mean I'm an American and I belive in free speech the First Amendment. This gives me the right to speak freely about how I feel and I will. I refuse to tip toe through life so I won't offend anyone. I wish everybody would do the same. If people don't like what I have to say don't listen. If people don't like what I write don't read it. I'm gonna speak my mind. I though these comments were funny. So what if they offend someone. Lets stop all trying to be politically correct drones and jujst be people. We all shouldn't have to bite are tungs all the time. People now days act if you say anything not in keeping with the political correct dogma your a "bigot" or a "racist" well I'm gonna speak my mind regradless of what that makes me and I encourage you all to do the same. Be free speak freely.

Oh and the issue of raceism is a serious issue it occures everyday agianst whites , and it's goverment supported and media encouraged. Ooops I shouldn't of said that now I'm a "racist" Owell guess I'll have to learn to live with it. LOL

Stormy, this was not an offensive issue at least it wasnt meant to hurt anyone! I do not consider black people to be any less of people than myself! i think ALL ppl are equals and i really hate it when people are racists or anything like that. God made us all and he loves everybody so much regardless of color. i mean color doesn't matter at all! people shouldn't look on the outside and just judge by that!

Well, those little racists should go die in a fire. For some reason, I'm so embarrased to be white after I saw the movie Remember The Titans and some other educational movie clips at school about the Civil Rights and all that. But that was a long ass time ago. At least today isnt bad like before in the 1960's? But I don't even know how someone can know your race over the net unless you told them? I don't think it's because your race at all. Maybe it's your rating of your poems. Yea, I don't know.

Also, how is this topic ridiculous? Someone is being suspicious and questioning if their race has something to do with people not reading/commenting/voting on their poems. It's simple curiousity.

Ummm we're on the internet - I didn't know what colour anybody on here was nor do I even know what country half the members are from - too be honest nor do I care, a good poem is a good poem...

I do not want to be a bitch, but why would you even bring this up as a topic? I mnea, this is the Internet, no one knows what anybody really looks like anyways. I could say that I am 5'9, weigh 97 pounds and have 3 eyes. It's just not plausible as an explanation for the fact that you have few comments. ( I wouldn't know, I haven't looked at your poetry)

I know that when I come across poems that are written in broken english or slang I dont read them, most of these people are black or mexican I have found, but its not because they arent white that I dont read their stuff, its because I dont want to read poems with broken english.

So I doubt its because you're black, you're just not getting the attention you want, but you have alot more than most people.
