Ideas on giving a ring to a girl

My son is getting his girlfriend a ring for Christmas. Not an engagement ring!! He is too young for that (almost 16)
His girlfriend is 16. She saw a very nice ring she liked so he got it for her. But she doesn't know he got it.
My suggestion was to put it in the ring box, put that inside a red heart shaped box & fill the rest of the box with Hershey's hugs & kisses to hide the ring so it will be a surprise to her later. Then tie it with a very pretty ribbon maybe with a red rose. What do you think? Or does that sound lame??

    Any other suggestions?

Jennifer, if you just had a baby with him I would wait it out. He MAY just have you ring for Christmas...you never know.

Honestly, it depends on what the girl is like. Personally, as an almost 16 year-old girl, I would find the whole hearts and roses get-up a little bit too Hallmark. Maybe his girlfriend is into that. If he knows her well, he'll know what to do.

Aw tammy thats such a sweet idea. awhile back I did that whole, buy a dozen roses, and 1 fake one, tell her I will care for her until he last rose dies.... yeah so corny haha.

Noooooooo Snake. If she is not your girlfriend, do not do that. I repeat DO NOT GET A GIRL THAT IS NOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND OR HAS ONLY BEEN YOUR GIRLFRIEND FOR A SHORT WHILE A RING. I would freak out (in a bad way) if my boyfriend got me a ring (we've only been dating about a week and a half, though we've been friends for about a year and a half).

Get her something simple, but sincere, like a mix CD. If you put on songs that are good, and not cheesy, but remind you of her, that's pretty sweet.

It depends on the girl, but I know for me, at this stage, a ring, roses... that whole deal is WAY over the top.

I find it more syrupy than sweet. I think it's over the top.

Thanks guys! My son gave it to her last night. She absolutely LOVED it. She is a very sweet girl. Really though I am not sure who liked it more, her friends or her. (He gave it to her at church) Her friends couldn't wait to get it open. It was so pretty. We put gold curly ribbons on top of the heart, then wrapped the heart in red celophane like paper and tied it with a bunch of gold curly ribbon.
We couldn't find any hugs, so we used 3 bags of different kinds of kisses. It had silver, purple & gold.

im sorry but this has nothing to do with the ring,
give your son this idea for another time maybe.

give his girlfriend a dozen roses and put another fake rose in it. then write a card that'll say, "i'll love you till the last rose dies."

one of my best friends did that for his girlfriend, and you guys on here (if any) do it for your girl.
    it'll sure make her cry.

I think I just vomitted a bit in my mouth. God, my exboyfriend told me he was going do that for me... and inside I was screaming "Oh God! That's so cheesy!"

Seriously, any guy I'm interested in needs to be a bit more original than that. Wow. Gross.
