Hiya iv seen on tv loads of american kids saying that they will abstain from sex untill they are married I dont personally agree with it and I make no secret of the fact that I am not a virgin, but was wondering what the point of view was behind it and why people feel they need to do this? |

Okay, i'm gonna sound like an old man (that i am) and a hypocrit (that i'm not) but just hear me out. So I'm not a virgin, big deal. But anyone can abstain from sex, whether you are or are not a virgin. Sex to me is a very special thing between two people (nowadays it might not even be only 2!). Well maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of 'making love'. Anyways, i think abstinance is important in helping NOT spreading sexual deseases. |

Im 14 too, and a few of my friends arent virgins, but I am. I almost wasnt until this guy came to my health class saying that these ppl are someone else's future husbands or wives. Would you want to know someone screwing around with your future spouse? i dunno if that makes sense but it kept me from losing my virginity |

I sort of agree with Aken. I don't think it is particularly important to abstain until, lets say, marriage. But I do think that sex should be something that matters to both the people, not just something for recreation. Views on that do differ though, so if you are someone who does that whole recreational sex thing, that is fine. Another, more down to earth reason is that 1. you can be more sure that your partners don't have stds, and 2. if you do by chance get pregnant (or make someone pregnant) then you can be sure someone is going to be there to help you out. |
