My heart is trying to beat again

I haven't had a boyfriend since May. I was tired of getting hurt and told myself it just wasn't worth it. I was doing so good, until I met this guy. There are a couple of problems.

1. My best friend likes me...I don't know what would happen if I started dating someone else.
2. This guy hardly talks to me. I've seen him three times. He has my number.
3. He seems like a girl freak...It may just be that he has a lot of girl friends. I have a lot of guy friends..maybe I seem like that.

I have his cell number, I thought about texting him and telling him...but I don't want him to think I am stupid. I also don't want to start anything before I've had a chance to make sure it doesn't hurt anyone. I don't want to get hurt anymore. Advice?

I've got a combination of those situations. My best friend is the guy with a lot of platonic female friends, and I too have many guy friends. At first it freaked me out a bit, because I wasn't sure of his intentions, but he's a great guy and is now my boyfriend and things seem to be going great.

I think that:
1) If you guys never talk, and he has your number and doesn't call, he A) Doesn't have the balls to talk to you, or B) Isn't interested.
2) I think that texting himand telling him you like him would be abrupt and out of the blue and cause more damage than anything else. If you're going to tell him, tell him in person.
And lastly...
3) What's so wrong with this best friend of yours that makes you so disinterested?
