A poem of a poet is like the canavas of an artist... It is a way of communication in an attractive way. Some times it is not attractive but different.. or complex, or twisted... or.......... come on .. you know it well.. why you are asking?

Poetry is emotions, ideas, and imagination tranferred into words.

What is poetry
some may ask
is it a view of the future
a memory of past?
is it words on paper
only to the plain eye
those with real creativity
can see what lays inside
It can be nice like a candy
sweetness in every bite
or dark, with surprises
like being alone on a night
empty like a coma
numb, blank, and cold
maybe bright like a sunflower
cheery, loving, and bold
I think poetry is a rush of creativity
you see with soul not mind
that hold imagination and dreams
And can be seen by the blind.

I don't even think poetry may have a definition. Many people view some things differently, and this is something where everybody has a different opinion. My opinion about what poetry is, is this: Poetry is a form of art. It's emotions put down on paper. It's a way for people to escape. In poetry people can dream and just for a little while leave reality. For a little while people can just leave their life and live something they want to, just for a little bit. Poetry has so many definitions and I think it's probably a combination or some. Now this is my definition of poetry.

Poetry are words, laid out to give meaning and/or purpose, covering any topic the author chooses to write, or even open ended for interpretation. Art.

It's not anything more or less than that - everything else is more just opinion.

What is Poetry? Well, in my way, its a way to say things that you can't really say face to face, or come to say without screwing up.
