I made a poem called. Do not read this.

Does that go against the rules?

It doesn't stand out or anything it just pulls peoples curiousity. Anyways, I would like to know whether or not this is breaking the rules.

rule number three sucks anyway. what is so wrong with trying to get your poems to stand out?

exactly ^. I just don't get what the big fuss is over what people's poem titles are. If they want to put something stupid then let them. Maybe %$#$^% is the title of their poem. It's not the title that matters, it's the poem itself.

Nothing changes if you let people do that. I remember when this site had no stupid rules.

and who cares if it supposedly makes a poem stand out, which i highly doubt. I think people are more likely to read a poem with a normal title than one that says READ THIS!!^%^%^

no the world would suck if there were no rules. but this is just a poem site on the internet. i am not saying get rid of all of the rules because some are needed, but seriously that rule is dumb. It is stupid and not needed.

just answer this, bob. why do you care so much about people's titles?

I'll tell you what. i am going to make an awesome poem and i am going to make the title be &*^^*&*( just because i can and because i know there isn't anything wrong with that.

as for you sunny. i don't think the title marks the begining spot. sometimes i don't even give my poems titles and most of the time i make it after i write the poem. does that make the poem have less meaning?

    how though?

I'll tell you how... but mind me using advertising as an example....

have you ever seen an advertising that says nothing but:

"wE LoVe yOu" or any of the characters like the hearts written between words. no, there isn't.

you know why? becuase people will look at it and go: "is this even an advertisnment"

thus the same thing with titles.. if you write titles that protray that you're not serious about your writing then you should expect the response of no one reading or some will read it to see how serious are you actually.

anyways, point of summery is that you shouldn't write characters to attract people and you should try to get it the fair way by choosing titles to relate to the poem and make it creative.

like for example: 'I lOvE yOu -PlEaSe ReAd-" could be turned into "Mystical love" or something like that. get what I mean...

    Yes:

Because it is attracting attention, which is what special charaters and "please read" signs do....

If they took away this rule..they might as well take away the NO ALL CAPS poems rule.

Sadly, When I see a poem in all caps...a whole little dramatic session goes on.

    My vision slowly goes blurry,
    Lights dance around the screen,
My mouth curls up and quivers,
    My eyes water slowly,
One salty drop comes from my eye.
    Oh no. So dramatic.

    Hahahahaha

They do actually hurt my eyes though.
