Unblocking Writers Block

I thought it would be good idea to put down some things that inspire you to write...or help you write. So ppl can look and find new ways to get past writers block

Here are some things I do that sometimes helps me:

    1) I like to listen to music (usually songs that fit my mood)
    2) Sit outside and watch people or the environment
    3) Read mine and mostly other ppl's poems

Only write when you really feel the need. if you force your writing, like many things, you may get something, but it won't ever be as good as a poem that demanded to be written by you.

i agree with Kevin. if you have writer's block, simply do not write until your inspiration comes back. otherwise, your work will not be from the heart... and it will show.

those are good tips, music often helps me too,
but i also agree with kevin on this one, if you have writers block and force yourself to write, than you will come up with something, but not something that you hoped for, so just let the inspiration flow when it's there, don't force yourself!

It's funny, because I've been writing - poetry, novels, etc. - for years and one thing I've always believed is if you have writer's block you should force yourself to write something once a day. Even if it ends up with crap and you throw it away later... sometimes you end up with something good that will inspire the writer's block to go away. Just a thought.
