Well, if there are so many drugs... then she probably chose the one closest to her/him. Or maybe just the one that rhymed. But I think the poet made it clear (at least this is what I think) that it applies to all drugs. |

This was written by a young Indian girl who was in jail for drug charges, and was addicted to meth. She wrote this while in jail. As you read, she fully grasped the horrors of the drug, as she tells in this simple, yet profound poem. She was released from jail, but, true to her story, the drug owned her. They found her dead not long after, with the needle still in her arm. |

a lady who works for FCD (freedom from chemical dependence) came to talk to our school today and she read us this poem.. she said it was written by a girl who she had talked to at a different school who told her she was addicted to drugs and the FCD lady talked to her and asked her if she knew she would end up in jail eventually if she didnt stop and she said that that wouldnt happen to her... then she got a letter from the girls mom and it contained this poem that the girl had written from jail. are you sure that she died? thats heart breaking |

and yes she was addicted to crystal meth. but like the FCD lady said, you could substitute "crystal meth" in this poem for any other drug. part of being in FCD, the people who work there are recovered drug addicts and alcoholics themselves. and she said the poem makes her cry whenever she reads it because it reminds her of her own experiences, which were exactly like that, except with different drugs. |
