Well, don't think I am totally stupid for saying this like its some kind of secret but I always try to express my emotion over the words. I don't try to rhyme, in fact I try not to rhyme. What I do is I write down what I feel and then after that I put it into poetic form. When I first started I thought all poetry had to rhyme but what I soon after found is that a poems beauty is not in the words but the emotion behind them. |

What you described is freestyle poetry... "It is a type of poetry that has no set pattern or style. Most of the time, freestyle poetry rhymes. Since most poetry is freestyle and rhymes, most people are under the false immpression that if the verse dosn't rhyme, it isn't poetry. Freestyle poetry can be fun to write. None of it has to make sense so it can be humorous. It can also be serious and have a lot of depth to the subject. This is a very flexible style of poetry and that is why a lot of different people enjoy writting this type of poetry." |

i write the same way, every now and again though, i will try and make it rhyme, but that is not very often. If i have an inspiration i don't have enough time to sit around and try to rhyme every line, however, if i am in the mood to sit and take the time to write a poem, i will sit down and write one that rhymes. |

There has never been an uninteresting life. Within even the dullest exterior is a comedy, a romance, and a tragedy. - Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) |

I write down what I feel as well and freestyle is definitely my favorite type of poetry. But also I've seen poems that are amazing, combining pure emotion with rhyming that seems very well thought out. Rhyming can, many times, make a poem much better because people can enjoy a 'melody' in the poem and basically I think that rhyming can work side by side with emotion and freestylers. |
