    Looking to find six impartial and poetically qualified judges, for a challenge concept in the works, using specific poetry styles to express romaticism. This is just an inquiry of interest for judges If you'd be interested in judging please respond and we shall decide upon your qualification as a judge. For all those that would be interested in participating in the challenge from a writing stand point, once we have found qualified judges and settled on a time frame we shall post challenge. Once again, in search of six impartial and poetically qualified judges. Intersted candidates please respond!!!

    Ismail, first the name of challenge. The name of challenge shall be, "Romantic Poetry Forms and Styles Challenge", and as to why six judges right now we have six poetic form styles - might end up with more if any other quantifying styles are thought of - and was thinking one judge for each style, with each judge picking his or hers top three in each, so thusly, you'd have a winner for each style as determined by the judge for that style and also the two other poems they would place highly in said style, but also the individual participants would get to see what all the judges thought as to best poem in each category, so although you may not have been picked as one of the top by the judge/judges in the specific category/categories you'd entered your contribution could still be recognized by one of the others. That is the cusp/summary of the judging format. Exact specification of challenge to come after judges are determined!!!

    Britt, I figured someone like you might want to participate and represent your group as a writer/poet. Now, this challenge will be open to anyone who thinks themselves skiled enough to handle any or all of the formats, but those who are members of any of the poetry clubs would be invited and asked to represent their club by noting that in thier post.

    What I am saying is that ,you may infact want to participate as a writer/poet in the challenge itself and if you're entering the challenge you can't be a judge basically, and as for representing your club, the wish is the all those entering who are poetry club members represent thier club, and if you want to represent your club as a judge that's fine. Just remember to be "impartial" if chosen as a judge!!!

    Ismail, ¡Britt!, ♥Angela♥, JHarrison, Sondos, Steven Beesley, Musicality, we find you all acceptable candidates. Note: one more style (forum) has been added to the challenge. Once all you fine candidates have accepted, we shall see about appointing you the style/form you shall chiefly be responsible for judging. Remember, although we are appointing each of you one style/form, that you will be chiefly responsible for judging, we want your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for top poem in all.

    Style (Forms) to be judge by judges:

    Sonnet:

    1. a fixed verse form of Italian origin consisting of fourteen lines, usually containing ten-syllable to each line. There are many rhyming patterns for sonnets, but typically they are written in iambic pentameter, according to a prescribed scheme.

    2. a poem, properly expressive of a single, complete thought, idea, or sentiment, of 14 lines, usually in iambic pentameter, with rhymes arranged according to one of certain definite schemes, being in the strict or Italian form divided into a major group of 8 lines (the octave) followed by a minor group of 6 lines (the sestet), and in a common English form into 3 quatrains followed by a couplet.

    Note: participants may play with sonnet structure creating their own. They may create their own original sonnet, making up their own rhyme scheme. The format of 10 syllables (iambic pentameter) and 14 lines that is unique to sonnet form must be strictly kept, but rhyme scheme of sonnet can be whatever poet wishes (rhyming pattern must be noted though).

    Ode: (ōd) 1. A lyric poem characterized by lofty feeling, elaborate form, and dignified or elevated style; a form of stately and elaborate lyrical verse. 2. A lyric poem usually marked by exaltation of feeling and style, varying length of line, and complexity of stanza forms. 3. A lyrical poem praising or glorifying a person, place, or thing.

    ACROSTIC POEM: A poem in which the first letters of each line form a word or message relating to the subject.

    Acrostic Poetry is where the first letter of each line spells a word, usually using the same word or words as in the title.

    Acrostic- a poem where the first letter of each line spells a word that can be read vertically

    Acrostics: a poem wherein, the first letter of each line or alternating rhymed line of a poem come together to form a word and/or phrase.

    Quatern: A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.

    Nonet: A nonet has nine lines. The first line has nine syllables, the second line eight syllables, the third line seven syllables, etc... until line nine that finishes with one syllable. It can be on any subject and rhyming is optional.

    Rictameter: Rictameter is a scheme similar to Cinquain. Starting your first line with a two syllable word, you then consecutively increase the number of syllables per line by two. i.e. 2,4,6,8,10 Then down again, 8,6,4,2 Making the final line the same two syllable word you began with.

    Etheree: The poetry form, Etheree, consists of 10 lines of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 syllables. Etheree can
    also be reversed and written 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Get creative and write an Etheree with
    more than one verse, but follow suit with an inverted syllable count.

    Reversed Etheree: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

    Double Etheree: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

    ...Triple Etheree, Quadruple Etheree, and so on!

    Note: JHarrison has expressed interest in being lead (chief) judge on sonnets, but will judge anything though. If the rest of you judges have any prefrence to style you'd like to lead judge on let it be known.
