What Poem Just Rocked Your World

It happens to everyone ... we come across a poem that rocks our world on a day when we've felt all alone. This just happened to me ... it's called Heart vs Brain by ImplementsOfOuch. When you read it, note the comments and you'll know why it was so dear to my "heart".

So what poem has rocked your world?

Thanks Ruth ... I did read the three noted above to get a feel for the emotion on your "rocked day".

To others: The poem doesn't have to be a masterpiece or the writer well known/liked. What I was interested in was poems that happened to "catch you" ... on a day when you least expected. It rocked your world because ....

I was hoping you'd reply as I knew I'd get an opportunity to tune in to some wonderful writes.

FTS Miles has now been marked and I'm going to spend some time during the next couple of days going over the poems posted.

Everywhere I look on this site I keep coming across poems that really touch me.

As to The Raven ... it's been a long time since I read ... Shall be lifted - nevermore! Guess that's my clue to rediscover ... and I shall - forevermore!

Thanks to all of you for sharing. What a great way to be able to tune in to some writers that I might have missed through the usual searching. Some of them are quite intense, but it will be a joy to peel back the layers as I read. :)

I haven't been on the site in awhile ... family obligations that have been all encompassing, but now I've got a chance and I'll spend it wisely checking out some more of the poems mentioned.
    Cheers!

I'm sure Robert Gardiner doesn't really need much more recognition than what has already been given; but that truly was a great poem.

Illuminati is also a favourite of mine. Love your style stranger :) lol

Aria mentioned the same one I was going to... Federico Garcia Lorca's Lament For Ignacio Sanchez Mejias. Probably one of the most powerful poems I've ever read. Garcia Lorca is just an amazing man in general. Actually, his whole book "Poet In New York" is pretty world-rocking. I recommend it.

    Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
    The day's divinity
    First thing you see.

A vast radiant beach in a cool jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by its quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the woolly cotton brains on infancy.
The music and voices are all around us.
Choose, they croon, the Ancient Ones
    The time has come again.
    Choose now, they croon,
    Beneath the moon
    Beside an ancient lake.
    Enter again the sweet forest,
    Enter the hot dream,
    Come with us,
Everything is broken up and dances.
