that's a great idea writing a letter is better then to face him n take to him.
Or call him on his phone or just face him n give him some clues that you like him when he's alone without his friends

Just a little bit of advice i have is don't write a letter or anything like that. It would be a great idea except, that when i get that kind of stuff i just go "hmm... if they like me so much, why can't they talk to me?" If you really really like him, ask him if you can talk to him alone for a sec. Then gather all your thoughts and go for it. But of course this isn't pefect, =D just go with your first instinct.
