    Heya all,

I, and I assume many others like me, love your poems. However, the content may be amazing, but your useage of slang brings the whole piece down in rating and respect. Please, insted of:

he wuz thr n i thought u cared.

Please, Please, go over it at the end and change it to:

He was there, and I thought you cared.

There is a spell checker people!!

Ok, thats my rant over for the minute!

yup, I agree too. it's really bad when they type
"LYKE DIS". it's just so confusing.

I try to be proper when it comes to my poetry and communicating with professionals.

However, i can't deny that i use slang in my daily dialogue...hahaha.

I'm from the South, so it just attatches to me. =-P

But it would be nice if people could omit the confusing shortenings in their poems...it's like i have to squint my eyes to read it, then i have to read it twice more to comprehend what they are saying.

I know, i usually speak in slang but on my poems i always write properly because it just ruins the poem,

if it's annoying...don't read it. let people write however they want. this is poetry.

Slang is definitely harder to read. I'm sure most of us use it whilst we speak to our peers (I sure do...I live in East London!), but when posting our poetry, I think standard English should be used.

What if it's a rap? It could be. You have to remember that people have their own ideas about poetry, and will go by them.

Skye...I gotta agree with you there =0)

Tom Leonard's poem from Unrelated Incidents is an example of a poem not written in standard english, and it conveys the ideas about different accents.

well of course, the style of english depends on the style of the poem, my original post however, assumed that the replies would take this for granted.

Well usally people who use slang are kids. It's just an easier way of typing. If you don't like the typing of one person, don't read the poem/quote.
