Why do you write poetry?

I write poetry to express my deepest thoughts about life, death, and love.

Cheak out my poem it's not great or good but I'm only like 13 so yeaahh.

I write poetry to help me understand how im feeling, And to help me express it. I never used to be fond of poetry, I used to think it was kinda boring, And then one day i was really upset, And i just starting writing some poems, And then i found this site, And now i love poetry.

But yeah, I just write to let out how im feeling, Whether its a good or bad feeling.

And i think i might just check out your poems =]

I don't just write poetry, I think it, I sing it (even in the shower), I live it...poetry for me is like its..its...everything...and anything....

I can write to protest, write to reflect, sometimes write for healing etc...

Poetry just comes to me, I don't know why. Sometimes I can't think of anything though.

Because I woke up one day and told myself that I am a poetic writer, and that I am.

It fits my amorous, romantic nature, and allows me to stretch my creative muscles, also, it affords me the oppertunity to create aesthetic beauty through the eloquent grace of language and move people through the magic of word. I write poetry for it is tailored maid for romance, romantic wooing, for expressing adoration, affection, affinity, and winning over ones prospective love interest. I write poetry for it expresses beauty and love well, and with those things I'm greatly enamored. I write poetry for it provides pleasure to do so!!!

I just do.

I write poetry because it makes me feel like I express myself more clearly. I can look back in my poetry book and see how I was or am feeling. Poetry is what makes me look forward to tomorrow and the day after because its really the only thing that can save me. What I am trying to say is it saves me from making the same mistakes. It expresses how i feel.

I write because I love the feeling of getting it out in the open. I love the feeling of going back and reading the poem, and shivering as i read those words. I love the feeling of understanding myself, and I love the feeling I get that everything will be ok, as long as I can write. I love reading comments, and hoping that one day I might be able to truly touch somebody. I love poetry, and that's why i write. Because to me, poetry is hope, and to someone as cynical as I am, it's a pretty big deal.

I write because i just do. It makes me feel happier to have my feelings on paper and have a slight rhythm to it.

I wright because its my way of telling people how I feel, without telling them. I let them read it, and then they can take the way the please. And voila, they know.

I don't write poetry - I write words which i hope to be 'poetry' in the hope that one day i'll finally reach that.

The first poem I ever wrote was to try to beat my brother...

But I liked writing..

So I decided to do it again.

And after that I became addicted.

the only reason i wrote poetry is because i can let feelings out about love, relationships, family and friends.. i love to write poetry because it helps me get things out....

i agree. poetry is my way of telling the world MY side of the story, because it seems that there are too many confusing sides to every issue. it is also my release, my way of crying, it's my comfort food, the raw and unscensored side of me. i write poetry because poetry is me, it's my life, and it's what i love to do.

I write because it lets me express what I would normally keep hidden deep within. I also write because I can say anything when I do, typically I am a very shy person but through my writing I become myself and it feels great to express certain things.

I usually write to revive myself and my feelings!!!
I can't live without writing,its almost the most Imp thing in my life cuz I live with Poetry!!!

I write poetry so that I can relieve my stress and get out all of my anger. I love to write and someday I will get a book published.

I write poems, because it's the only way I can express what I was feeling at the moment. Also its a way of expressing what I have dealt with in my life. You can go to my poems and you can read "I hate" that is one of the things I had overcame. Thats the only way I could tell my story.

I'll go with "boredom".

I write to express thigns I don't want to tell anyone. And if I still don't want to see someones expressions when they read my poems, for example, when my dad actually found out that I wrote a love poem, so I emailed it to him. He said 'Wow, it seems like people really like your poem but what is this about love...' lol, I'm only 12.

sometimes words will come unbidden
words that usually are hidden
they lie dormant in the mind
where they're very hard to find

suddenly words come out however
though before you saw them never
and the words just come right out
telling what you think about

what you feel and what you ponder
about things that make you wonder
yes those words lie deep in me
and sometimes they are set free

from the mind where the were hiding
all just waiting, just abiding
suddenly they're clear to me
that's why I write Poetry

I write poetry/songs to vent cuz thts my form of a diary. i also write to let my friends know how i feel about something without rite out tellin them.
