Yeah i do i think it's better when it comes from your heart because if it didn't you really wouldn't mean what you said. |

I've found that poetry comes both from the heart and the mind. The emotional poems that seem to affect most readers are those that come from the heart. But the poems(social, political, etc.) that come from the mind and challenge the reader to think are just as important and meaningful. However, either way, it is the passion with which you write that makes the poem-whether from the heart or the mind or a combination of both-you still must have the passion. |

i strongly agree that writing is waaaaaaaaaay better if its about something that is impacting your life...like for example...my poem called gossip...that was about a rumor that was about me that was probably spreading for awhile that really pisses/pissed me off and i think that is the best poem i ever wrote...and umm my poem i want to die...it just occured to me one day that i wanted to write a poem that had the first letter of the title in each line(first letter) so if u look at the whole column it says something...it absolutely sucks...from my point of view lol |

When ever I feel I want to write poetry, I always look at my life or the live of the ones around me. I can never just make up a feeling or a story for a poem. Sometimes I wish I could just because the things that are around me are usually sad.. or depressing. And I am sick of writing those kinds of poems. |

I disagree, but then again most poems posted here have not been drafted twice, let alone spell checked. |

I have found that my best poems are from the heart. I suppose others may have another opinion but I believe true good poetry comes from the heart. |

i think poems are good if they come from the heart, all my poems are from my heart, it doesn't mean it's true, but hey if i started writing it and it came to me, it's from the heart, and i felt it. I mean, one of my poems was slitelly about the holocaust because that subject matter inspires me, honestly because i grieve for those people and i find it so depressing that idk. I want to write as a way to get the depression out. Whatever someone writes even if it's not exactly about them, they will shine through. When i started writing about the holocaust it ended up being also about outcasts. and also gay/bisexual people deaf people... all these things. which in the end jsut stated... don't judge people, because this is what it lead to. And yes i do feel those things. Obviously not as greatly as a holocaust surviver. But do no wut it feels like to be judged. I am gay, and I'm pretty weird to be honest with all of you... and we're all people... if we start judging and ahting people and not allowing people to get MARRIED! (yah that's another subject haha) then... this will all jsut happen again.. and honestly I'm very worried about it. |

For me Poetry is my escape. When no one else will listen i write my heart out in words. My poems are very very deep. |

i think that when you write from the heart, poetry is better ... maybe not stylistically, but the emotions are definitely more prominent. |

^^ Same...I think poetry is better written if it comes from the heart or an experience that you have had..some random thing that you have no idea about just doesnt have that 'feeling'.. |

Nearly all of my early poems were philosophical in nature and some of them are still considered some of my best pieces today but when I started writing from the heart and my experiences, my work took on a much more refined value. Do I still write poems that are not so good? Sure I do. Usually after I've studied a new writer and am trying to get their style down. But for me, writing about my passion, love, helps me write consistantly good poems while incorporating the new things I've learned. |

A poem written about a persons life experiences could never be beaten by someone writing about something they see in someone elses life or something they wish they could see or do. poetry is about imagery and the best kind of imagery comes from experience. |

Let just say i'm not really a writer...but i do write a poem when the mood strike me...there's a lot of topic you can work on..depends on your vast knowledge on certain subject...coz lack of knowledge means substandard work...and my first attempt to write was all about heartache..it's not my own experience of heartache but rather my bestfriend..i was able to put into writing all her pain..sadness...because i can feel her pain too. |
