What does this mean?!

Ok so me and my boyfriend broke up about 2 months ago. We dated for 3 years .. since grade 8 and we were absolutly in love. We broke up over a whole bunch of problems and I guess we both waited too long to get back. So when I told him I wanted to get back together, he told me he likes this other girl. I never knew they talked and it was a complete shock. They're going out now. He's known her for about a month. I told him things can't be like this and he's like Nicole I dont want you.

So I still think that there is more to him and me than this. I think we will get back together for sure, but he is thinking the opposite. Everyone's telling me it's just a rebound.

So he's pretty keen on doing what he's doing although he knows im sitting here waiting for me and him to be together. I hate how he's trying to make him and this girl the same as me and him. My friend Diana, was like if you think about it, he's making it the same cause thats what he liked. Now that you and him arent together he has to fake it with her.

So those are the lyrics. I asked him what he meant when he told me to listen to it, but he said he just liked the song but i dont think thats it.

What is he trying to say? Stay and wait for him or what?

to me it sounds like he still loves you but if hes to stupid to realize that and come back to who he really loves...then hes not worth your time. tell him what hes puttin you through cuz this sounds hella painful. you deserve better than this pain remember that...and if you belong with him, you will get back together cuz true love always finds you i promise

Well I think the lyrics are telling you that his new gf is infact him moving on. He might want to be friends, but the fact that you're seeing this all as a rebound...Well maybe you're trying to live through his new gf. You want to be her... And I hate to say it, but you just sounded really big headed and full of yourself. I hate to sound that rude, but maybe he has moved on. Maybe he still hurts, and the only way for him to fully move on is to go out with this new girl, and he's really liking it so far. Did you ever think that maybe it's possible he doesn't want you anymore?
Well I don't know him, and I don't know you. But I really do think you should move on. Because if he has infact moved on, then you should too...And if he's trying to move on because he hasn't yet, then you should try aswell... I know it probably hurts to hear that, and I'm sorry to be so...upfront and probly a little rude about it, but that's just my opinion.
