i believe its a free expression of thoughts and emotions you would never actually think of telling people to their faces so you decide to write you thoughts and feelings.
I also believe that writting is a way to show who you really are inside.

Sometimes it feels like therepy for me, since I can't talk to people about thibngs that are on my mind I write them out. Othertimes, it's just to write down an image in my head.

some people write poems because there afraid of saying it outloud..i have a quote that i submitted: "poetry is a silent voice that is heard with words."

Poets write for many reasons, fame, money,to see their name and work in print, catharsis, therapy, to express emotions and thoughts(self expression). Some write for themselves, some write for others, some write to touch the hearts and minds of the reader(some achieve both).Or just for the pure joy of it or an overwhelming urge/desire/need to write that can't be contained..My personal motto has always been 'I write because I can not NOT write'.

I think that there is a never-ending list of reasons to write. Whether youre happy, sad, angry, excited, or just wnated to express yourself, poetry is there.

For me, its a way to let out my emotions, no matter what they are, and to stretch my imagaination to feel what I've never felt.

A good reason? To show that I could write whatever the hell I want to and call it a poem.

That's what pretty much everyone on this website does anyways... right? I think so.

Nah scratch all of that... CREATIVITY

Yes the C word that no one knows around here.
A poem with creativity would not include suicidal terms involving oneself directly, would not include pure rhyming and words only, it would not include me going off on the poet if he/she had it.

To express creativity and perspective is probably the most important goal in poetry, one that almost no one in this website practices sadly... some do though, some.
