Jesus or Issa in my religion will always be a debatable character. |

Angelina, if you were researching your genealogy, and a document failed to appear on one of your great-great- great grandfathers would you assume that a great-great grandparent was born without a father? There are many historical records that show that there was a revolution in the Jewish community after the crucifixion of Christ. Paul was a Roman named Saul who was converted after persecuting Christians |

Actually, read back in some of the Roman documents and you will find that they have record of a man, non roman, in the same region that Jesus was supposed to live in, who had such a following that he created a stir in the government. It isn't much other than that. No names. No mention of what he did to create a stir, or of his life. Of course, to the roman empire Jesus was a blip on th emap when it was concerned with the world. But matched up to where people say Jesus was and his life its a safe bet to think that the man the Romans made small record of was Jesus. |

A man named Jesus did exist. he was the son of Mary (or as she would have been called, miriam) who was crucified by the roman soldiers. However there is much debate as to whether he was the son of god or even the messiah. He never claimed to be so, but whne the empire asked him "are you lesus, the son of god?" he replied "so yous ay" so that doesn't really help. |

Did Jesus exist? That one is easy, yes he did, and no, its not becouse the bible says he dose, that is on record. Jesus Christ, a Jew was indeed Crusified. The real question is, Is Jesus the son of God? Personaly, I dont beleave he was, I bealeave he was a servent to God, but nothing more. And personaly, I dont like God, I bealeave in him, I just dont like him too much. |

I am a Christian and definatly was here on Earth and was the son of God, I mean I guess its been said that there is like proof he was here over in Isreal, and his body is not in his tomb , which is why Many Christians believe he rose again..I havent study what proof is over there but this thread actually reminds me to! |

I'm not a christian, but I do believe that a man or even more than one man, called Jesus, existed roughly around the time that the bible states. |

Throughout the course of human history evidence and physical records are often destroyed and/or doctored to further the current ruler's position in that particular place and time. |

Sorry Angelina, I thought the church was relevant to “I simply want to know whether you think that Jesus was a historical figure or not. |

i believe jesus and all the other people who have reached divinity in different religions did actually exist as normal people. Sure he lived and was crucified as many people were. maybe jesus was known for some thing or extreme faith in god or whatever, and so people began following him and after he died people made him a martyr and gradually he became known as the son of god. is he the son of god, does god exist? we could fight it out for years and nothing would ever come of it because know can say for sure. some people have faithe and others don't. people can never know what happened in the past because even though people wrote about it, they could have added certain things and placed less importance on others or not be fully informed. no one can say anything without having experianced it or been there. |

Jesus was in my opinion an evolved guy who was speaking a bit of anti establishment scripture, got himself into a bit of bother because of it with the local authorities [ just like Ghandi, Martin Luther king etc etc]. |

Kevin, the fact that so many people give credence and praise to the belief in Jesus as 'Our Lord and Saviour' could manifest his spirit. The power of the mind is something I thought you gave a lot of credit. |

Interestingly enough, there is physical/legal or whatever you want to call it evidence of Jesus's existence. Since this not a religious discussion, whether or not He was the Son of God is dependent upon one's personal beliefs. |

Yes, he was real, but the story might be added by the latest followers after his death, might be many years after. |
