some of my friends asked me why i wrote poetry and i said to help me. for me to put how i feel into words without being judged by people i knew. and that the people who commented dont know me.
they looked at me like i was the biggest dogg and someone said something along the lines like im sorry im not depressed and i havent been in love.
i was soo hurt by that. that they didnt understand.
does that happen to anyone else? that your friends dont understand and leave you feeling worse.?

Luckily, when I was younger I never had to deal with that kind of thing. My two best friends wrote poetry, actually they are the one's that got me started writing.

Now that I'm older, not very many people know I write poetry.

I don't agree with what they said though. You don't have to be depressed or in love to write. Just wanting to express yourself gives you enough fuel to write...

Yeah it happens to me too. Its going to. Some friends are like that. A few of mine arent but for the most part they are. You just have to turn it around. Like the person above me said, you dont have to be depressed or in love to write, there are a million other things you could write about, friendship, nature, something funny, make it your own.

    yep, happens to me.
a few of my friends write too, but alot of them are always callin me emo and stuff when they see me joting somethin down in my notebook...
i just told them to shut up and idk, they play around lik that alot, but they do understand that it hurts me...
so they kinda stopped...i just tell them that its none of there business and it doesnt involve them so it shouldnt matter....
*shrugs* there isnt much u can do...its gonna happen

None of my friends write, and they don't know that I do, neither does my family. It is just an outlet for my emotions...and most of the time, my friends or family wouldn't understand.

    Peace, Joe

Dont worry what others think...and if they were your friends they wouldn't judge you, and they would understand fully... its happened to me a few times...they look down on because of the words in my poems...but i just over look it and move on.. and i just keep writting...just do the same...

My friends don't really know. I think my best friend dows, but she doesn't care. It's not like she's actually seen some stuff I wrote. Even though I wrote 'Poet At Heart' on my binder, no one really cares. of course, Tyler was like 'Poet...At...Heart..that's stupid. Your not a poet.' and he still doesnt belueve me, but oh well

Listen. Many ppl have been chastised for their work. Poets are no exception. If ppl want to know why you write poetry. Tell them you do it for the same reason they do what they do. It is what You were called to do.
