Old friend vs new friend

I have this one friend that has been my best friend for ages. But when we both started a new school I got more friends and she didnt. She is friends with the people I'm friends with, and no other. And she is never with my new friends without me. So without me, she is one of the most unsocial people in this universe.

Now I want to hang out with my new friends, without having to feel like I have to take her with me.

    Is that wrong?

    *tackles and hugs Georgi*

calm down georgi, it's ok...... O_O and yes, that is kind'a wrong.... since she is your "supposed best friend" but i can understand if you want some away time, but since she doesn't have any new friend, help her find new friends, or take her with you, your call. ^_^

    Yes...

Leave your old friend. I wholeheartedly suggest..Why because your friend must land on her two feet and make her own friends, she needs to devolop her social skills without you having to introduce her to more friends. She is like a baby hiding behind her mother in front of strangers.

    So cut the strings.

Ishy, if they have been friends, then why should she just "dump" her off, i can see and understand if she wants separate times for her friends, and yes, i do agree with how she should find her own friends, but as a friend, she could help, incourage your friend to go out and meet new people, be a good friend...

Cherri: If you had a friend who is so antisocial that he/she befriends who you befriends, don't you think you need to cut the strings for the person to make his own friends...Hmm?

I said yes, but it wouldn't do any harm for her to help her out a little, hmmm!? As a "FRIEND" she should incourage it, not just "dump her off" ! >:( jeeze.

    -*-Cherri-*-

ps: when i was in high school, i did go through that almost SAME experience, and yes, i helped my friend find new friends, now that Friend is in college, and is getting married to one of those "friends" i incouraged her to meet. >;) so there.
believe it or not, i do know what i'm talking about.

You say yes, correct. But by encouraging someone it may have an adverse effect. Making the person more antisocial or back to his/her old self.

I say not to talk to the person for few weeks and see how the progress is.

What if she loses her friend? that wouldn't be very good now would it? How would you feel if your "best friend" for a long time just "dumped" you off?

I would make new friends...Simple as that.

Infact I did that before out of spite, and I think many would do it too.

But i don't see what her friend did wrong, she is shy, should she be "dumped off" and forgotten for that? Sounds really harsh to me.

There is nothing wrong with you having friends other than her. Why should you lose opportunities for friendship because she isn't social?

I never said I was going to dump her, I just want to be able to be with my new friends without having to feel bad because she doesn't come with me.

No way Im going to dump my best friend forver, gees!

Yeah were all in the same class..

Of course you wouldn't, but there is no reason for you to feel bad at all.
