When you read poetry, if you have a choice beetween a person who has many awards, or someone who doesn't, whodo you read? Does the awards make you more willing to read the poem? |

I would have to agree with you. Many people in here, choose a person because of their popularity and their social skills. |

well, I'd like to say that the title inspires me more than the awards...sometimes I find wonderful titles for a person that has NO awards!!! |

^^^ Actually if you look at the awards and what they are for, they have no direct connection to whether the poet is a good one nor do they guarantee the quality of the write. So it is really a bit pointless to look at the awards. |

I don't think the awards say much. Sometimes I even try to read poems without votes or comments, and if they're good I rate them and maybe comment. I do this because I wouldn't like my poems to go unnoticed, though sometimes it happens. |

I don't go by awards, I read the title, and if it interests me than I read it, also, I read their profile, and if there is no information all "UNKNOWN" I usually only comment on 1 or 2 poems of that persons, but if they have a profile I will comment more poems I don't know why, but that is what I do. :) |

The title, definately. In fact, the more awards, the more prejudiced I am ( know, punish me) because I feel they are merely crowdpleasers, and not stuff of substance. |

I Don't Look For Awards I Look For The Title Of The Poem, I'm Always Drawn In By a Really Good Title Not a Really Good Range Of Awards...If Anyone Does Consider Awards Over Talent Then I Don't Even Want You Reading My Poetry...Your Being a Hypocrite xoxo-Nikki-xoxo |

lol yah i agree. what someone thinks is an awesome poem... to someone else it could be the oposite. i was going through some of the poems that get awards, to see what they were like, and some of them weren't all that good. (to me i mean) |

mostly i like to read ppl without an award and the reason is they always have fresh poems, and by reading their new poem and tell them how they are you are supporting to bring a new poet into the world of poetry, but the ppl with many awards already knows wut they doing, and they have passed that stage when they need feedback from others. |

I mainly look at the title first and then the rating/awards of the person. I think that awards do count, but then again, it doesnt matter what other people think, it only matters what the poet thinks. |
