My best friend and I have been friends since kindergraden, lately i've been sad all the time, and she's alway been there for me... but now i think shes becoming anorexic. I haven't seen her eat in so long and at lunch she refuses to eat and if she does its like half a chip or something. Everyday I try to get her to eat but she wont... today i pretty much was really upset and she wasn't eating so i got really mad at her. Now I feel like a selfish little brat who wont even help her best friend who has been there for me this whole time....i don't know what to do...should i tell someone?? and to make it worst...today in science we learned about anorexia and it made me feel worse...

True enough. Anorexia made me sick. I was forced to eat again, and I gained a lot of weight back because my body stored the food as fat. You see, when you starve your body and you eat just a little thing, your body will transfer it all to fat because it doesn't know when you are going to feed it again. I also lost my great place on my swim team because my anorexia, and the loss of energy with it. My times just got slower and slower because my body didn't have the nutrition to work. Honestly if anorexia doesn't kill you, you will just be making more problems for yourself and will end up gaining the weight back, if not more. Tell your friend that, use me as an example. It is not a nice road to go down, and after all of it I still am not comfortable in my own skin. I accomplished nothing except wasting a lot of my life and hurt others around me.

Well my stupid brain was thinking that if I take that pill it will like fight against my body wanting to lower my metabolism.. And so it wouldnt be as bad or a slower pace. I take two pills a day. I think I might up it to three. Than after a while four until my body gets used to it. Only three of my friends no i have this problem. They think me not wanting to eat in front of them is just kinda different. My boyfriend nos and saysif I think I am a little overweight I can do something about it and i just said I am doing something about it... and he is like eat soemthing here and there I was like normal ppl eat more in a week than what I do in one. He was like be carefull so i dont know right now i feel it is the only thing I can control and no one can prove that I am anorexic or close too it. I dont know what I am

You can't make it any worse than not helping your friend. First talk to her, than talk to a teacher or her parents. Sometimes we have to take a step out of what our friends want and do what is best for them, they'll appreciate you later.

Talk to your friend...but dont accuse her of anything as of yet ....ask her whether everything is going ok ...and reassure her that you will ALWAYS be there for her ....make sure she understadns that ....but if she is acting differently you shoud porbably tell a trusted adult

    good luck

The only thing you should definatly NOT do is talk to other friends about her. My best friend didn't eat lunch in like sixth grade. A bunch of people were talking about it behind her back, and I really wish they would have talked to her or me. Because she ate like alot at my house, and breakfast. But a huge rumor of her being belimic, and how she passed out got around. Soon enough a teacher heard and called a councellor. So my friend who had nothing wrong with her had to weigh herself weekly, and keep a food journal. The moral is, just talk to her and make sure there actually is a problem before you jump to conclusions.

I don't eat at lunch, because I forget mine, but Anorexia is a disease to where you think you're fat, no matter how thin, so you're afraid to eat, and you're afraid to gain wait. Tell her how much more beautiful she'd look if she was eating more, and how curves are more gorgeous the poles.

It does sound like your friend may be developing anorexia. Anorexia is not just about weight and body image issues though. Actually, it is mostly not about that at all. Try talking to her and asking if she is having problemsa t home. Many girls feel like their life is out of control and the only thing they can control is what goes into their body. Anorexics use their bodies as a cry for help, rather than using words. I speak from experience. But please, try to help her all you can before it becomes a full blown eating disorder. It is a horrible thing to go through, both for the anorexic and her friends/family. If you want more advice or have questions about the disease, email me darkgothicgirl13@yahoo.com

    girl, im in california...

i recently found out 2 of my best friends have been skipping meals and to top it off another has been doing that too. i love them so much! i cant stand knowing that all 3 might die and i wont be able to stop them...

but since i'm capable of making them quit, i'll do what i can times two. i dont care what it takes... i wont let them die on me.(same goes for you)

here are some facts about anorexia (thank you SCIENCE CLASS):

1)the affected person is convinced they are still fat after they lose a reasonable amount of pounds
2)an anorexic person's diet consists of 0-400 calories
3)anorexia can lead to death, disease (such as osteoporosis), and can affect people aroound you
    _________________________________________

I am determined to help my friends, and these are my thoughts i will share with you:

1)I'm going to let them know they r loved and that i can be a shoulder to cry on

    and

2)I'm stuffing them with my own lunch so that they'll EAT (I'd sacrifice my life for a friend... I don't care what it takes, I'll sacrifice)

    pm me...

My friend was the same way, you need to help her by not being her friend and not being there for her will just make things worse.

~First of all, you shouldn't feel bad. You've tried to help your friend, and no matter what, if she don't want to help herself...you can't do anything about it. As long as she has the idea in her head that she can't eat--she won't. You have to confront her about the issue, and let her know what she is doing to herself.

I think in these years EVERYONE has either had an eating disorder is still suffering from one. What can I say, it's the thing to do now. I feel disappointed in our world.

I hardly ever eat breakfast or lunch, does that automatically mean that i have an eating disorder? i hate eating in front of people and never have a chance to get any breakfast. To be honest i think all u can do is look out for ur mate, if things get any worse then suggest tht she gets some help other then tht u'll have 2 wait until she's willing 2 tlk 2 u

i DID go anorexic, but at the same time my best friend was going bulimic. we realized we are not the only ones with issues, and that we needed each others help. so while she ate and NOT puked it up, she made sure i ate and KEPT eating. we would call each other on the weekends to double check, and everything worked out fine. FRIENDS ARE THE BEST MEDICINE!!!!!
