Ok, well what I do is think of the perfect girl and what would make the dream date and etc...just do the samething, except with a guy in mind...lol

I then take the feelings that I create by thinking of the perfect girl and dream date and etc...and use those feelings towards a poem...It works pretty well.

You can't try to find insperation. The best love poem I ever wrote, 'Living Love' was because I really like this guy in my grade (I'm only 12) and so I wrote that poem to express my emotion in a way that no one would find out. At least, no one I knew, but I don't really care anymore. Just, jsut don't look for insperation. Wait for it.

Wait for it? you don't have to wait for it, I have written many Love poems without something happening to me or waiting for it. Yes, emotions play a big part on poetry, but you don't always need emotion to write something good. Writting comes from the heart....

You don't wait for inspiration..that's silly
use your imagination. I am about to enter a love poem in a contest..and believe me, I am not in love...in fact, I am VERY recently divorced so there isn't even anyone I am interested in, nor do I want to be interested in anyone ...but I can imagine & hopefully write a good poem..lol

Well waiting for it is what I do. I don't sit at the talbe and say 'Ok, now I'm gonna write an amazing lvoe poem' I did write a really good love poem, but I had to wait for the insperation. Without insperation, your poem won't be as good, and insperation doesn't come with a whistle, you need to find it. That is what I meant. Do I make more sense now?

"Without insperation, your poem won't be as good"

^^^ This is such a false statement, Look at all the famous poets in the world...you really think that not one of them wrote an amazing poem without insperation? Really now, Poets don't just sit and wait, granted that some do, but the amazing poems that poets make...you'd be surpised that they were made without insperation, If we just sat and waited, there would be no Romeo and Juliet...There would be no famous poems...yes there would be some, but the outcome is...A lot of the famous poems where written without insperation, knowledge of poetry, and even the fact that they had no clue that they where writting...

I mean seriously come on now...this is a joke!

No. If you say 'Today I'll write a famouse poem' chances are you won't. You do need to wait for insperation, at least for a lvoe poem. Without insperation, a love poem isn't really a love poem. Such a poem comes from the heart, and that means that your heart and your lvoe inspired you. Inspiration may be where no one expects it, but waiting for it is the way to write an honest poem. Granted, not all people want to write an honest poem, love poems should be honest. I don't know why you don't get this! Sure, you CAN write a poem without insperation but insperation is what makes sertain poems great. And did you ever think that maybe Romeo and Juliette was inspired by love in Shakespears life? Honestly, some people

Ok, first of all learn how to spell.

"You do need to wait for insperation, at least for a lvoe poem."

^^ This is a totally false statement, It might be true for you, but not everyone sits and waits for insperation for love poems...For I have written many without insperation.

"If you say 'Today I'll write a famouse poem' chances are you won't"

^^ True, but honestly, how many people say that? I doubt anyone does, they know it is not going to be famous, they write for themselves, it just turns out to become famous when multipule people start reading it and they Love it..then eventually it may become famous, still not 100% sure that it will, but there is a chance.

"Without insperation, a love poem isn't really a love poem. "

^^ A love poem is always going to be a love poem, regardless if it has insperation behind it or not...Read most of my Love poems...Almost all of them where written without insperation

"Such a poem comes from the heart ... Inspiration may be where no one expects it"

^^^ This is very true, and If you sit and think about it, you will always have feelings towards something, yes poems come from the heart...still doesn't mean you need insperation...although insperation can be a great help...

"Sure, you CAN write a poem without insperation but insperation is what makes sertain poems great."

^^ Sure, I agree, but did you notice what you wrote? "Certian" poems great... hrmmm Notice how you wrote Certian? only certian poems are great, when using insperation...so does that mean there are great poems that are not written with insperation? I presume there is...for there is 2 sides for everything in this world.

Ok. first of all, they are called typoes and 'I'm not the best speller in the world' and here is what my dad said when I asked him:

True, don't wait for insperation. Write some smaller poems and then the action fo writting will inspire you to write something bigger.

Well, i'll tell you what i always used to tell my ex-boyfrend. He raps and he used to say his songs were BLAH, like they had no emotion. WELL DURH i said, THAT"S BECUZ ALL HE WROTE ABOUT WAS SEX, DRUGs, GIRLS AND CARS. I say write about something real. If you feel angry write and angry poem. same with when you feel sad or happy or depressed or evil and demonic, ANYTHING!!! it doesn't even have to RHYME just let it all spill out. Don't wirte about something you dont know. People can tell when they read your stuff that its not deeply from your heart.

Do you ever day dream? if so start their. Have you ever been in love? If so start there. Don't force it. Think on the subject light heartedly. Never force it. It will come when the right words are put together.
    But until then. Day Dream

It must be waiting a period of love experience.
Empty thinking is not a good way to get the ideas.
It comes into your mind so naturally and comes out with full of inspiration. When one day you fall or being felt in love with someone, you would feel its feeling come out like a stream from your heart. The emotional feeling may help you write beautiful poems.

seriously, is someone spells inspiration incorrectly again in this thread...

My suggestion for improving/branching out is to search for your most earnest feelings about something and then look for different ways of saying it by using metaphors. That alone doesn't make a poem, but it can help you figure out what you want to say, and might help you think up a few lines you like.
