I bet his x told him that she wants him back buttt, well he sounds like a guy that wouldnt lie so I think he just needs some time to be alone and figure out if he wants to go back to his x and give her a 2nd chance or if he wants to be with you, I dunno if its a good idea to call him and just talk or go for a coffee and just chat without ruining his privace/space cuz well I dunno what kind of a guy he is and if he will mind that or no, I would give him some space/time and maybe then call him but just talk, dont get into 'what happened with your x', maybe try to meet somehow
