Thanks to the 8 poets that submitted a poem! I was *hoping* for more participation, but was pleasantly surprised that I actually got that many!

Great poems everyone, and thanks for participating!

Thanks, also, to all those that voted!

    By an overwhelming majority,

    The Winner is: Holly Armer!

    We're Watching Over You

    Hi Mom it's me Noah
    way up here in heaven
The last time you saw me
    I was only seven

    That was five years ago
    I still don't understand
    Why my siblings and I
had to die at your hands

    I'm glad they don't remember
    that scary June day
    but I just can't forget
    Mom, I was so afraid

    You were not the same
    something was really wrong
    Where was the Mommy
    that always sang me songs

    She was gone so
    I tried to run away
    But I got caught and
    went to heaven that day

My brother's were waiting for me
    with our little sister Mary
    We were all very brave
and it was no longer scary

    Now we live together
    safe within God's home
    Watching over you every day
so you won't feel all alone.

    There's just one last thing
that I really need to say
We love and miss you very much
    Happy Mother's Day.

Wow, thanks guys! I'm quite shocked that my poem won, there were some awesome poems posted. Well done to all the participants.

Thanks Ann Marie for presenting such a unique challenge. I really enjoyed writing this, it's something I would've never come up with on my own.

I do agree with what you said Sluv, but children are resilient and truly possess unconditional love and that's what I wanted to show in the poem.
