I've also tried writing "happy" poems but its not the same. I don't feel that they are strong enough or good becuase I don't put as much emotion into the poems since I have more sad and brokenhearted feelings wrapped up inside of me. I zone myself into my own world and my mind puts my thoughts on paper.....without thinking much. When I feel I have finished I read it and realized thats my bottled sadness. Its what is within you. |

I have the same problem ,,, i was hurt from some one i love ,, so i cant stop thinking about what he did to me and being sad ,, and when i write happy poems ,, it seems to be really boring !!! ... that i would kill my self for not writing the same again ... so i go back to sad poems and quotes !!!!!! |

Personally I think alot of people (including me) write alot of sad poems because when your sad you need a way to deal with it and most people use poetry. But when your happy you don't really need to deal with it in a big way your just happy so alot of times you don't write poems about being happy. |

yea, maybe that is just what you feel like when you sit down to write. or what youre thinking about. it doesnt matter what you write about, as long as you write. maybe if you have an overly happy moment and you sit down to write then, your poem will come out happy:) |

Maybe you're trying too hard? Or maybe it *is* hard. It's easy to wallow in and analyse a sad moment and use it for writing material, but it doesn't seem quite right for some reason to pick apart a happy moment. |

because...you're writing from the heart and how you feel, and that's what makes poems the most beautiful.. keep writing and expressing how you feel. forget the people that don't care or don't understand beyond the reasons why you write poetry and express how you feel. |

Yeah I know exactly what you are talking about. I try to write about the good things that happen. but then there is always something that is depressing that hits me and hits me hard. So most of poems are sad and depressing. You just need to work on i and eventually you might be able to write something a little but more happy. |

Yeah I pretty much only write sad poems too. I'm not really sure how to go about writing a happy poem. I wrote a funny one but it was still kind of....idk |

Ohkay just because its a sad poem doesnt mean that you are a sad person or that you are depressed.. even though i write a lot of sad poems and they are because i was depressed.. but some people find it easier to write sad poems.. maybe they have had an experiance in life that 'inspired' them to write sad poems.. or they just cant think of anything happy to write about.... |

Probably because when everything is going great, you're busy, lots to do and very happy, you don't suddenly think... i know i'll write a poem. |

First of all, it's not always a bad thing to write about sad things. Sometimes the saddest things in life can be beautiful! But if you want to write about happy things it may take some effort, but often a good thing to do is to read some poems that are happy. That will give you an idea of what kinds of things you do or don't want to write about. Then think of a good time in life and just... make it even more beautiful, cause hey! no one ever said we couldn't embellish a little! Have fun with it! Writting about happy things is one of the best parts about writting, and leaves your readers with a happy, satisfied feeling. Good luck! |

I tihnk its bc we all focus the most on all the bad things in life and dont pay any attention to how lucky we actually are. The first thing that pops into our minds is depressing (most of the time) bc we arent as appreciative for as much as we already have. it will take a ton of time to start writing with happy thoughts, but start out maybe with someone you care deeply about or your best friend. good luck! love and trust |

I have that problem, too. I think it's because sad poems are easier to write, because you can express things better and it's a lot more emotional. |

This is normal, your not alone, sad poems mean sad feelings and if you have no other feelings you cant write any other poems. its ok, things will get better and something will happen for the better and make you write a happy poem xxxx |

Sometimes its just because you're feeling that way. Maybe you find it hard to write happy poems, I actually usually find that harder too. But its not necessarily a bad thing to always write about sad stuff, as long as each poem is unique and special in its own way. Sad poems can be just as beautiful as any other kind of poem. But it IS nice to find a new topic once and a while and just play around with different topics and see if something else works for you. Who knows maybe theres something else that you are even better at writing about, but you'll never know if you never try to explore new things. Try asking people for advise on how to change your topics without sounding weird and you'll find help. It'll probably be hard at first but you'll probably end up loving the variety. And you can always go back to writing sad poems if you want! Explore new things, its great and will really expand your talents and views on poetry as a whole. :D |
