the lanterns were few and far apart. It was pitch black but for an eerie flicker of light now and then. they were set up in a pattern. the very first light was to my right. I walked a bit and there was one to my left. Continuing down the path one popped up to my right.

it continued like that for about seven minutes when the walk ended. It opend up in a rather large circular room.

off to my left was a small stone table. set around it was three matching chairs. just beyond that was three beds made from moss most likely collected from the mountain itself. opposite the beds was an enclosed square of dirt and grass-looking plants. In the square grew what looked to me life mis-shaped vegetables. they were all brown or black in color. next to it was a cupboard, but what caught my interest was a wooden door.

my hunger for the knowledge of what was behind that door just had to be satisfied. i approached the door and look to see if there were any designs like there had been on the entry way. i saw nothing of the sort. i did see however, a regular old latch. i tried it. nothing. i pushed it. nothing.

i looked about for some clue or something that would provide an answer to how to get behind that door. nothing. or so i thought until i saw the stone chairs. certainly not the right and intended way, but alas it was a way. i picked up one and it was quite light unheavy wich surprised me quite a bit.

chair in hand i walked over to the door. I swung the chair agaionst the door. No splinters flying, no broken wood, just the door as it had been before.
now i was truly baffled but equally facinated. What sort of door was this? what sort of PLACE was this?

i swore an old curse i had often heard an old villager use. i turned my back ready to leave when suddenly and so silently i almost didnt hear it, the door start to move.

i spun around. the door fell back revealing a simple pantry. I was bewildered. I wondered why a simple food cellar would be so hard to get into.

i cast that thought aside and started toward the food. the food was alien, but it was indeed food. i looked for a carrying sack. I did not find one. I went back to the pantry and started to gather all i could carry. i turned around, arms stuffed with food, and began to leave. That's when I heard a ping similar to that of the designs at the front enterance.

i turned around and saw a little square design lit up in a blue glow. I was confused. i was taking food right off the shelf right around that area. i did not see it there. it was not there i am quite sure of that. well i had no time to ponder over things like that because the wall i was taking food off of was spinning around. If i did not hurry i wouldn't be able to get in the secret room or whatever it was.
i slid in at the last moment.

as soon as i was in all the food dropped from my arms. all the things i was seeing i thought never existed but in stories and fairytales.

i was looking fixedly at a huge black cauldron, shelves and shelves lined with odd ingredients like eye of newt and talons of dragon, and scaly limbs of some type of tremendous reptile. i realized they must be from a dragon when i saw the wings.

straight ahead was a large black book. i wanted to go and inspect but it was as if my feet were glued to the floor.

finally i was able to peal them off the ground. i appraoched the book. the same weird lettering as on the front entryway. i opened the book. every page had a short paragraph accompanied with strange pictures.

i remember one vividly. i couldn't understand the words but the picture was what caught my eye.
It showed a woman changing into an ugly monster.
i figured that it was a spellbook. that would explain the weird things around the room.

i decided it was time to go. the others would be wondering where i was and the place was giving me the creeps. it was as if the place where alive, i could feel the enrgy all about me. so i turned around to leave.

  • natasha

i got to the door when i realized i didn't know how to get out! i wondered if it could be like on the other side and there was an invisible design somewhere on the door. i ran my fingers over the whole door wild to be out of that room.

i shrank back in horror realizing i was trapped. i fell to the floor and began to weep. i decided crying in this situation would get nothing done so i immediately got up. i began to pace the room wondering what to do. when i looked up i was facing another corridor.

  • natasha

there were no lights down this corridor, so i picked up a small lantern hanging on the wall of the small room and started on my way.

  • natasha

this way was not stone like the first corridor.
this one was all dirt, so i guess its safe to say it was more like a tunnel. a foul smell reached my nostrils. it smelled old and rotten. i ignored it and kept walking.

  • natasha

this tunnel went down. as i kept going down the air grew stale and it was very difficult to breath. i was wheezing so bad i almost gave up and was going to turn and go back when the tunnel startd to go back up. i was so glad i could breath normally again. after walking for a while i came to the first of many bends.

  • natasha

i was saddened when i saw the the tunnel went down again. but never the less i continued. i only hoped it would end soon and i would be back out in the city. i walked for what seemed like days, going up and down, going left and right. it truly was like a maze.
