I don’t remember being regarded for any academic achievement while I was in school
My family always encouraged me to go to college, which I never did. I majored in industrial arts. Anyway back to the topic. My aunt Agnes had the most faith in my writing ability, and heard that I was writing poetry. She requested I write a poem for Christmas. and that could be my gift to her. A few years went to her funeral the nuns at the convent she had lived for seventy years informed my sisters and I that one of the few last request my aunt made was that I recite the poem I gave her for Christmas at her wake service. I will never forget reciting that poem in a beautiful cathedral at the Sisters of Charity Nazareth convent. Many of the nuns made a point to tell me that they believed the recital of the poem added to the ceremony I close friend of mine latter wrote a mystical poem and dedicated to my aunt Agnes, which is published in one of her nine books. The book is titled The Crowning Touches of Bereavement. I have since shared my poetry in many other venues
