Which do you like most between a short or a long poem?

Why most of the poets like to add more sentences into a poem? (Although it can be written shorter form.)

I think a short poem is more attractive if it is a high quality poetry piece.

Do you agree with my saying like this?

I prefer more detail to give me a visual. If it could be done in a short poem then that's well but if it could be done in a long poem without repeating the same idea, then that's very well too.

I like short poems for the most part. Longer poems tend to be just drawn out to the extent to where it loses my interest. Some long poems are good, but I just prefer the shorter poems with a powerful meaning behind it.

    Hi, Dear Member/Friend,
A very famous short poem was written several thousand years ago, but it is still read and loved by many Chinese until nowaday. Why? it is short and meaningful, easy to be remembered. It is valuable to be investigated a piece:

Isn't this a valuable Chinese poem?

    Fifteen Poems
By: Li Bo (An ancient Chinese poet)

    Title: Night Thoughts

Before my bed the bright moonlight
Shines like frost upon the ground.
Lifting my head, I gaze out at the moon,
Lowering my head, my thoughts turn to home.

This poem has been well sung/read by many thousands of Chinese yearly from generation to generation. It is simply short and easy to be remembered. A real short form of pattern song of poem. There is no body denies its valuable art of poetry to every poet and general peoples.

The poet woke saw the moonlight on the floor,
He raised his eyes to see the moon.
Bow down his head and thinking fast,
back to his home town at the moment.

The whole poetry was a vivid picture, the moonlight poured down through the window silvery onto the ground infront of the poet's bed, he immediately stood near the window and look at the beautiful moon, which brought him remember his villiage home town while seeing this full moon.

It is so simple and short, a very clear thought in his mind, just because of the moon light silvery, snowy on the floor, made him not forget his home far away in his villiage. It was a poet's love upon his home town.

Another short poem is a good pattern like this:

This is little poem written by Bruce Lansky:

    Title: Good-Bye, Goldfish

The day my favorite goldfish died,
I’m not ashamed to say, I cried.
I prayed for its departed soul,
then flushed it down the toilet bowl.

This is very good in the modern world of writing. Simple and direct describing in the diary form, attractive for children and parents.

Yes I do agree..I believe the short piece gives the author a chance to get better at the craft..He/she will have to think more about the reader and keeping that reader interested in the piece.

In my mind, the longer the piece, unless it is especially good, there is the chance for the reader to become bored and lose interest in what is being read.
