Living In A Dream

"I can feel your body tugging gently on my mind
Stirring up a feeling I thought I'd never find
Ever since I met you, I've been living in a dream
You lay a whole lot of love on me"

Throughout the day you run rampant in my thoughts
Your wonderful scent lingers in my memory
The taste of your kiss is fresh on my lips
My skin tingles when I think of your touch
Images of you play tricks on my eyes
My hand feels our fingers still intertwined
Your laughter echoes in my ears
Reminding me that you’re always around
Our hearts and souls have been combined

When we are together, nothing else exists
Hiding away in our own little world
Our love is as pure as new fallen snow
And as stable as solid concrete
You speak so deeply with those hazel-greys
Lost in your eyes, all doubts are left behind

This took me a LONG time to write... it frustrated me so that I had to do a few lines and leave it for awhile.

I agree with you, Sluv, on the rhyme scheme.

What I did was put my four preset lines in place and then made the rhyming line just above each of them, adding a couple different rhyming words in line 6, that I thought might fit....then I wrote the rest of the stanzas as a bunch of couplets, and when I came to each line 6, I could pick my final rhymer.

Very challenging, Ken... thanks for thinking of it ;)

My gal is going with her friends
To share some quality time
They'll probably end up shooting tequila
In a bar not too far from here
But I know my baby too well

She'll jump out on the dance floor
Move like a teenager back in school
I may be mistaken but I doubt I'm wrong

You'd think she'd learn her lesson
When she comes home missing her clothes
It doesn't happen with brandy
Or vodka or beer or rum
But she continues to shoot tequila
Until the entire bottle is gone
Her friends will all laugh at her
Because she'll lose a ring in someone's drink
And her shoes on someone's lawn
If the DJ puts Bon Jovi on

I love my girl to death I do
She doesn't always go shopping
She doesn't flirt with all the guys
But my bill is still sky high
When I have to replace her clothes
From going out with her friends so oft'
She's gorgeous as a sunrise
So I've come to accept
Tequila attracts her as light to a moth
She might come home in a table cloth

Her friends they encourage her
And my baby she has fun too
Even if she doesn't remember it.
It's always a new adventure
To see what she wears at the end of the night
Yet sometimes I have to cough
At what she's managed to lose
It always brings a smile to my face
That every night she goes aloft
Tequila makes her clothes fall off

Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On

It's Friday night, his paychecks cashed
He's dressed country, boots and hat
His trucks been washed, the insides clean
He's ready to leave your memory
He doesn't want to be alone
So from bar to bar he starts to roam
He'll buy a drink or maybe two
and then he'll start forgetting you
No longer thoughts of you are grown
He'll fall apart when he gets home

So he tips the glass and chugs it down
and buys himself another round
The whiskey's dry, he holds it near
He drinks it up then starts on beer
The jukebox plays a lonesome song
and like a fool he sings along
His voice is slurred from the drink
But he doesn't care what people think
and maybe his thoughts are all wrong
But right now his worries are gone

He leaves that bar and drives again
Looking for a good time friend
Another bar, he sees the lights
He drives on into the night
He parks his truck beside some woods
and tries to exit, if he just could
But liquor's grabbed him by the ass
He can't move, he's one big mass
Does he care he knows he should
But life is good, good, good

So in the truck he sits and stares
and laughs at life without you there
He just can't think of what he's missin'
all the gals he could be kissin'
But here he sits, all hope is gone
of finding friends in which to bond
Tonight was fun, a battle fought
and thoughts of you, he soon forgot
Now he sees a drunken dawn
Billy's got his beer goggles on
