Well as I believe in evolution my first point would be what is a chicken. And no I am not crazy I do know what a chicken is but what I mean is because (I believe) animals are slowly evolving the chicken as we know it nowadays would have come from a different animal. But because it is evolving so slowly it is almost impossible to define where the old animal stopped and the modern chicken begins. Therefore my answer is neither the chicken or the egg it is the singled celled organism where all life stemmed from |

I think it's all to do with evolution. So the animal. |

I think the egg cuz the chiken had to come from an egg. plus the fact that something had to make the chiken and chikens come from eggs. like something like this could have happened: to spieces of bird have breeded and when they layed the eggs something was differnt. and there was a new bird :The Chicken. there forth the chicken was hatched form the EGG. lol but thats just my views. |

god created the CREATURES not the eggs |

People who believe in God can say that. But as for the others I would think the chicken came first. Maybe the evolution process transformed something into the chicken and then the chicken had the egg. It makes sense in my head at least. |

Yes but remember I said evolution. Where one organism pretty much evolves into another. That's what I meant. |

of course the EGG.. scientists claim that some eggs can be self-produced.. |

Tony I think we're thinking along the same lines here. I'm talking about evolution too. A creature that had almost completely evolved into a chicken (but not fully) would have laid the egg that grew up to be a chicken. Therefore the egg was first. Get it? It wouldn't start out as something else and then evolve into the chicken halfway through it's life. |

i don't really even believe in evolution. really what scientist are claiming mutations occur slowly so for one species to become a completely new one would take a really long time. it would have to be multiple mutations as well to make it into a new species and these mutations would have to benifit the animal to survive to reproduce. |

I don't believe in anything. But I still think the chicken came first. And even though some people have some good points about how the egg came first or whatever, The chicken came first. If the egg came first, It wouldn't be able to survive without a mother chicken keeping the egg warm. So then there wouldn't be a chicken. So the chicken came first. I don't know how, And I don't care how. But the chicken did come first. Lol.. |

it was recently decided by a panel of scientists and philosophers that the egg came first. Something lay an egg, and the egg had a mutation. Whatever hatched from that egg was the first chicken. Mutuations (and hence one of the main facets of evolution) only matter in the gametes of the parents. Once the mutated what-have-you sperm mixed with the mutated what-have-you unfertilized egg, it made the first thing we'd call a chicken egg. |

the egg since without an egg, there could never have been an chicken to be born...so yea |

egg because chickens must have evolved by a non chicken. And in the zygote is the only place where DNA mutations can occur |

The egg had to come before the chicken! Some sort of lizard slowly evolved until one day, a chicken came out of the egg instead of a lizard! |
