Engagement Regulations?

I was wondering if there is any rules or age limits regarding engagements in Michigan? I know the marriage laws say you have to be 18 to get married without parental consent. But what about getting engaged?

Any info you have would be appreciate, ^_^.

well i'd assume there arent any. I mean..cosp dont go up to people, grab their hands and say, " OMG YOURE UNDER ARREST! THAT MUST BE AN ENGAGEMENT RING!" lol ya know? so i doubt there are age limitations.

Lol...yeah there aren't any laws or rules anywhere about getting engaged. Just like dating. Ya know? But...if you can't get married till you are 18 then why get engaged? Ya know?

Yes, but I'm thinking about it because it kind of makes the idea more stable. We already know that we're getting married right out of high school so I think it's safe to do it now. Then again, wether you get engaged before 18 can an all opinion based subject.

I see your point. If you find someone you care deeply enough to make the commitment, i think it's great. I think it would be more appropriate to start out with a promise ring. If you are serious about, i think it's sweet and you should get engaged. Just know that a lot of marriages end in divorce, and getting married so quickly after high school could possibly make the probability greater.

exactly what i would of said! my boy friend and i are in the same situation and yep a promise ring is it. its a promise that you will be together forever. that way after high school when you are more stable financially and mentally you can actually make the marrige commitment

My guy and I got together his Senior year of high school....towards the end he gave me a promise ring. It's been a year since then....almost 2 years of us being together....and we just got engaged a week ago on Monday.

My only advice to you...is to wait on marriage till you either graduate from college, or have full time jobs and can support a marriage.
