lol.. well, none of my poems really rhyme, i find it difficult to do that as i just write the words that describe my feelings, but many people seem to be able to do it really well.. so that is probably just me.. lol.. i do think poems sound better with rhyming, but they are still good without! :)

It depends reallly. If you can get the imagery and emotions out just right without rhyming then go ahead. Some can do it some can't. I write poems that don't rhyme and they still turn out good. I feed it easier to just go along with my flow of inspiration instead of stopping to make it all rhyme.

Rhyme can be a very useful tool for guiding the reader into a structured rhythm. I can also be used to dazzle the reader that the poets prowess and adept ability to be a wordsmith.

Poetry is about expression. What tools you choose to use is your own business. Rhyming is just one of the tools available. Some people are really good at using that tool. Others have different tools they're good at.

I think that each poem is defferent. Sometimes I try to use a certain Rhyme Sceme, but it just falls into Free verse. Some poems are destined to be a certain form and until they are that form they just seem incomplete.

Everything is okay, I prefer rhymes though, it makes the poem sound more organized. But if the rhyming is forced, that just ruins the whole thing.

personally I think its a choice thats made by the writer and it doesnt really matter anyway as long as the poem is put together nicely.

i like to rhyme, but poems don't always have to. some sound more natural if you don't rhyme; just go with your gut instinct.

Rhyme makes it sound good, but not rhyming lets the reader feel the words instead of hearing them.

I don't know which is better, because of my poem 'Giving the Gift of Words'

i'd rather not rhyme than force it just for the sake of rhyming and make it ruin a perfectly good poem.

rhyming is good as long as you don't overdue it and use to commonly used rhymes. I notice way to much poems that have the same lines in them just because they are an easy rhyme. I do the same thing, so I've been trying more free verse, but rhyming is good every now and again.

When I first started writing poetry I would make everything rhyme. I don't do that so much anymore. But there's nothing wrong with it, as long as it isn't forced and awkward.

When in doubt, use a thesaurus - expand the vocabulary

Also, I think rhyming is important for reader and writer - you don't want to just write as you'd speak necessarily - you want to elevate your words above a casual conversation to add the emotion you can't express in voice.

And twist words around, it gets easier and expands the mind

    e.g Instead of -

"She stood still" - make it an exercise

    She unmoved stood
    She stood unmoved
    She stands there halted
    Arrested she stands
    ...etc

You have many possibilities to express an otherwise easy statement and fit a rhyme.

And don't think to rhyme ONLY going forward in your poem - if you need to rework a line ABOVE to fit a thought you've just made perfectly below....then revise backwards...so don't fall into the trap of rhyming as your're progressing, the entire poem is flexible, remember.

Take the tougher path, it's more rewarding to you and us.

    Good writing,

    DM

I think sometimes when you think you need to rhyme, it puts a damper on the raw emotion and quenches the message that you really want to say.

rhyme or no rhime poems are just to express yourself and if you find it easier without rhyming you shoul do it however you want, yet the rhyming helps you expand your knowledge.

It all depends on the writer, if rhyming's what you're good at then rhyme, if not, free verse.

Every so often I think it is good to step outside your box of what you usualy do and try writing in a new form. some of the poems i've read that don't rhym have given the best mental immage, it all depends on the writer.

Some poems don't want to rhyme. A poem can have a life of its own. Some poems just naturally rhyme because they want to. As you write more you will develop a person a style but that, too can become a limitation to your poetry. Trying new styles and ways to develop our poetry challenges us. This is good for our poetry.

If you can express yourself better by doing free verse, do it. If you can express yourself better by rhyming, rhyme! I can express myself either way! You dont have to try to make a poem that rhyme, if you don't know how to express yourself through it.

I think it depends on the poem.... I rhyme on some of mine but eith some its easier just to leave it... It depends on whether you want the poem to have structure or not..

    Poetry's not about rhyming.
It's about feelings, or expressions, or that kind of thing. But rhyming IS pretty cool, and it does tend to make poetry more..comfortable (?)..to read..more enjoyable sometimes.
but if you try too hard to rhyme, it starts to sound kind of..crappy. So I mean rhyme or don't rhyme. It doesn't really matter. it's totally up to your opinion

I am a fan of rhyming poems myself. I think rhyming can help with rhythm and flow, help to establish and keep a rhythm and flow. Some might say some or even most rhyming poems are too predictable, I think, a rhythmic, well rhymed poem should be predictable somewhat, wherein, say, the reader expects to hear a rhyme at a certain point as per the rhythm, flow, of the poem. That being said there are some that rhyme badly, force it, where it no longer lends itself well to the flow, but instead, makes it seem stale and uninteresting, with a childish, sophomoric, rhyme style. But when one masters the art of rhyming and rhyming well, it can be exquisite, eloquent, and enthrallingly enchanting and can leave you exhilarated and extolled by its epithets of assonance. I can easily be entranced by the harmonic flow of a rhythmic, well rhymed poem and like them the best, but not all poets can effectively and artfully assonance.

Personally I like both kinds of poems... but sometimes I like non rhyming ones best. If you have to force it, then you shouldn't use it.

I Think The Quote Suitable For This Topic Is "To Each His Own"....Everyone's Diffrent...Some Ryhme Because It Naturally Flows Out, Others Write Freely Without Ryhmes Because To Them Its Natural As Well...So Don't Force It, Do What Fits Your Poetic Style
