Justice?

So, al-Zarqawi has been killed in a highly co-ordinated attack by the US Airfore. This pleases me, greatly, but I somehow feel slightly gypped that they didn't get a hold of him and exact the same so-called justice he reigned on people like Daniel Berg, Ken Bigley and so many others.

I'm betting that there would have been more than a few volunteers to be the executioner at that gig.

javascript:cnnVideo('play','/video/world/2006/06/ for the video of the bombing run.

I'm not sure an execution would help aleviate problems in the region.

Yeah, I know, but will two 500lb bombs any different when it comes to revenge attacks? From my point of view I like to fight fire with fire. eye for an eye severed head for a severed head and all that.

Well, I think that some revenge attacks are inevitable, without a doubt. However, I think that some people who would be angry but not angry enough to retaliate would be pushed over the edge at the sight of a public execution.

I never said anything about a public execution, I thought a little room with a dodgy webcam would do the trick. Worked for them, after all.

My point, I guess, is that these terrorists will be less likely to hold foreign governments if they know they will receive the same treatment the give to those they kill.

maybe, although for some reason I feel like this brand of terrorist isn't particularly suceptible to deterrent methods of execution.

    Good point well made, mate.

I know my pov is no better than those doing said attrocities, believe me I know. The one thing I have learned is that to gain the respect (by that I mean fear) of terrorists you sometimes have to find the lowest common denominator. Then they start the talks process.

I fear that talks will never start because of the basic knowledge that this brand of terrorist will stop at nothing.

Faith is the most powerful tool.

Somehow it seems like we're the only people interested in discussing this...

An eye for an eye??? I believe Bush` orders have resultet in far more civilian deaths than this al-Zarqawi. Who`s the bad guys? Both

  • Sean Allen

I'm not sure if that's actually true EOB. al-Zarqawi is probably responsible for more civillian deaths, and is definitely PERSONALLY responsible for more than G-Dub

Again I see people assigning blame to heads of state rather than looking at whatis happening on the ground.

We're there now, regardless of blame and it has to be seen through to the end. Bitch all you like about Bush, but have any of you blamed Saddam Hussein for anything? Or would you defend him in court? Would you be banging on about him if nothing had happened? Would you have even known about the countless killings in Iraq if Bush hadn't pushed it?

Sure, poke fun at the leader but a lot less people have died since the invasion than would have if it had never happened. Kids are only concerned about it because they might know a family member friend of a friend or semi-famous sports star killed in the conflict.

We are a people of war, it is our blood. Deal with it.

I hope this post ^^ was aimed at EOB, since I agree with your general message.

I am quite sure it was...

I knew of saddam before the war, and what he did...and am very pleased to see him in jail...

    *to tired to argue*

yurp, it was a reply to EoB and liberal kids in general. I just get tired of the same old approach to things here sometimes. I honestly believe in most cases only one side of the coin is ever seen. Why? 'Cause I was a kid once too.

Well, I figure myself a liberal... but I don't stick to a side when I think it's wrong. Better to be a free-thinking man, methinks.

Justice is a word that does not exist in Newspeak... and maybe so in the modern world.
