just because they are special words to someone doesn't make them good. the words good and bad when referring to poetry refer to a scale you would rank on, and when rating anything, it always is a comparison. When you rank something bad it is in comparison to good poetry. So basically by saying something is bad you are only saying that there is better out there, much better out there. So yes, something can be bad.

i have noticed that lots of people on this site write poems just for the sake of writing poems and the words seem plain and rushed. i think there definitely is such a thing as bad poetry, and that is poetry that has not been written from the heart. if someone asks for feedback, always be honest, respectful, and contructive. if you leave criticism, do not sound too harsh and be able to back up your claim.

I don't think the poetry is ever really 'bad'. It may be to the reader, but to the writter is has meaning.

I agree with Catherine. I think Poetry has a life of its own.

there is no such thing as a bad poem. Poetry is feelings, whether it's about love, nature or sex. Some can be a bit extreme to others. But there is no such thing as bad poem. All poetry is wonderful, because it comes from the heart, and I believe that when it comes to voting, well you can't put a score on what someone else thinks and feels...so theres my opinion
