    Megan, I'm sorry to say that that isn't good advice at all. Many people who suffer from depression or other mental illnesses are suffering from a disease. If the disease is serious enough to cause self-harm or thoughts concerning suicide, it should be brought to the attention of a professional.

    That doesn't mean you have to TELL people at school that you're getting professional help...

    It just means you should get it. If your body was seriously ill, then I'd highly suggest going to see a doctor, not to have your best friend come over and try to prescribe some treatments for you (unless your best friend happens to be a professional doctor... in which case go for it). Same thing goes for your mind. Get a doctor.

    Sorry, But I have to dissagree with you Megan. What Sean's saying is 100% right. It doesn't matter how many true friends who have, Or how close you are with your family. They can't fix everything. Sometimes professionals can't fix it all aswell, But they do a better job at it. They were trained to do what they do, Your friends and family wern't.
