For The Record

    For the record let me know if I'm going to be called a plagiariser. I removed my poems when I was angry, then I reposted them. Not knowing that my poems were plagiarised in Xanga, and some other sites.
    Yes they have an earlier date, but the poems are mine.

    Investigate.. mostly "Gangster At Heart" and let me know please. If any mod think they were plagiarised. I will removed. Completely.

    Aashik, of friends has been accused of being a thief. Was constantly asked to prove his innocence. Instead of the accusers presenting the evidence for calling him a thief.
    In other words he was guilty and had to prove his innocence. Instead of the other way around.
    Then the thread along with the accusation was closed. Apparantly no one could prove his guilt.

    Then I saw a post accusing Steve Flash of plagiarism too. I went back to it, and the post was removed. Something about Xanga having an earlier date on his poem.

    To prevent that from happening to me, I put in my profile where some of my poems can be found and what name it's under.

    Thanks for the input Sluv... You have such a way of taking my muddled thoughts and making them crystal clear....

    ~~~~~~
    As for David, I can't promise that it wouldn't come up... people that don't know you might someday report you and in our research of it, we'd have to ask you for proof of authorship... that's why it's so important to have printed copies of your work.
    Sunny my question is:
    Once some of my poems have been googled and found out that the plagiarist have an earlier date than mine. Am I going to be accused of being a thief? I'm sure you understand the situation. The word thief is a pretty heavy word.
    As a matter of fact please go do it now, do:
    yahoo: "Gangster at heart" poems
    You will see various people with the poem on their webpages with earlier dates.
    Am I a plagiarist? No, of course not.
    Does it seem that way? Yes.
    Should I remove my poem/s in question? Up to the the moderators. I will comply.
    Sluvious why do you always come off attacking me? Grow up.
    I'm just taking a necessary precaution and reporting this before I'm wrongfully accused.
    Edited: Ann Marie, I don't have proof. These poems are not a big deal to me. Being called a thief on the other hand might be.
    I will comply with what ever you decided.
    Thank you.
    David, if you are unwilling to fight for the poems that you declare plagarized by other people, then I think you should delete the poems in question.
    I would take you at your word if I could, but my faith in your word isn't evidence for or against anything.
  • David
    18 years ago
    Sean I will do that immortally. It's not that I'm unwilling, it's that I can't prove it according to the rule-set Ann Marie laid out, which I respect and will follow.
    4 poems are in question actually. I will research to see if there is more.
    Thank you Sean
    Sluvy I'm sorry if I saw your remarks as an attack. You asked "your point being..."
    when I explained the point..
    kinda threw me off.
    I went and reread my OP and saw that I suck at bringing my point across.
    My point is Brit
    I have a poem.
    my poem was plagiarized without my knowledge.
    I deleted my poem, by mistake or not.
    I reposted my poem.
    now the plagiarizer has an earlier date.
    It looks bad.
    I make a post explaining the situation before I'm accused of something I'm not.
    I take the mods advice.. as in with Sean.
    I lose.. but problem is resolved. :)
    everyone eats cookies.
    if you have a similar situation, you might want to e-mail a mod about it. Your account might be in question for plagiarizing your own poem. lol
    Wait, this is a question to people in general, but specifically to mods:
    Janis has records of the original posting dates of all poems, even the ones deleted right? That is how he can ressurect some deleted poems? Couldn't that be evidence?
  • David
    18 years ago
    Sean I was silly when I deleted them.
    And I have asked Janis several times to restore them, but as you can see, he is pretty busy or simply will not or cannot do it.
    No not all my poems.. just the old ones. Why? I have no idea. I'm not trying to put myself down or anything, but there.. are.. better.. poems.. to plagiarize. lol
    I am asking about the dates for future reference just as much as I am asking for your current case. Having that sort of information at our disposal could prove to be very useful, and I'm curious as to whether it exists.
  • David
    I can't believe it. I had to delete 24 poems. Some nutjob posted them here.
    HTTP://www.creative-poems.com/member.php?id=6059
    If you or any mod can get that information, please let me know so I can re-posted them.
    But remember, I deleted them in the first place out of stupidity, so I would definitely understand if you don't.
    Sorry for the confusion.
    I wonder how that happened? Hmm.. *whistle*
    I was going to make the account my own, and change his password.. but he might retrieve it through the webmaster.. I think I'll just go ahead and delete the poems entirely, like I did Locoburrito over at Xanga.com
    edited: zapped him. yahoo account are fun.
    Sean I agree with you. I really hope this gets settled soon.
    Aashik:
    David: have you reported the Xanga webmaster about it? I'm sure you have the copyrights and you must take prompt action.
    And no point asking the mods. Even if a 12 year old posted one of Shakespeare's sonnets , probably they would accuse Shakespeare's ghost of plagiarism.
    The funny part about my incident is that my poems were not even copied by others on this site or anywhere else on the net. So God only knows where the mighty mods got the links from.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^
    Aashik
    Yes I contacted the person first and if that didn't work I would contact the webmasters at Xanga, or anywhere else. The problem in my case was that the plagiarizers post (poem) was older in date than mine. Cause I deleted and reposted my poems.
    Plus it seem as if the webmasters don't care about plagiarism or are too busy. I had to deal with some of them my own way. Sometimes it's hard or impossible.
    I am sure the mods that accused you of being a plagiarist will come forward with proof. Or will be big enough to admit that a mistake was made.
    then ... we will throw you a party wit balloons.. and clowns and cake. No midgets tho.. I'm scared of them. :)
    All fun and games aside.
    Is Aashik's case going to be resolved? At this point I think that he don't want to be reinstated.. although that would be nice, but only the Janis/Dainz can do that.
    All he is asking is for the persons that accused him to show forth proof. And it seem as if he is being ignored or shut out. Why is that?
    I hope I am wrong and this is being handled via e-mail.
    Aashik please email me and tell me how this turns out please.
  • Sean Allen
    One of the problems is that poem deletion/plagarism work is done relatively independently, as far as moderators goes, so I can't give ANY sort of information on it, as I'm in the dark as well.
    However, I've known Ann Marie for a while through this site, and neither she nor Sunny seem like the kind of people to do something without a reason. What I do know is that they'd rather settle this privately through email than publicly.
    Asking Aashik to email you about how it turns out is certainly a very good idea, and I hope things turn out as they should. I was/am a big fan of both of you as far as poetry goes, and I can remember reading poems written by both of you since I joined the site around 2 years ago.
  • David
    18 years ago
    Yes, that's what I tried to convey earlier. That it would be pretty hard to prove. Some of the sites that plagiarized my work are no longer in service. So I can imagine how hard it must be.
    This should have never been seen in public. It is a private matter, but Aashik made it clear that he wants the members to know the results. It interest me a lot because it could be a template on how members will be treated from now on.
    Nonetheless, I will leave it rest and expect an e-mail from Aashik.
    I remember when you joined, and when you became a mod. Always the gentleman that wants to fixed things through communication. I admire that in you. :)
    Thank you for the compliment, and trust me when I say. I stand no where near Aashik.
    The man wrote an Acrostic + Rhyming Sestina!
    and I thought acrostics by themselves where hard. lol
    * Wonders what ever happened to Peter Rosario, Haley comet, Sabrina Hall and Trincy. :( *
    Yes, David, it will be resolved, and yes we are communicating with him through email.
    All the info is being pooled together and sent to Janis/Dainz. Right now, it's his word against ours, so there is no sense in discussing it any further.
