Can Poems Be too full of opinions??

Should a poem be criticized or even hated because of the belief or opinion of that writer? It's happening to me now. I get rude, offensive comments calling me names.
-Does anybody else have this problem too?

    Poems ARE opinions.

Guess what, about 137 of my poems have now been downvoted. Quite hilarious isn't it. They MUST hate me or just have no life. Seriously, I wouldn't have the patience to wait 30 seconds everytime to vote a 1. You should check out my poems now.

poems are feelings, it is what you feel. so no matter how others think you sould not care. i always listen to them to make the quality of my poems better, but never let anyone change your feelings cause it is yours.

Poems come from the poet and reflect who they are.

Maybe the poem isn't too full of opinions... but it is the reader's opinion who thinks that there is...

No, it's your peom. If you are like me, you write poetry to explain how you feel ina way that's easy to you. It is all your opinion, and it is not against the law to express your opinion. You can report their comments because of that.

i dont think anyone should say anything bad about your poems. People wite what they feel and if they cant be nice they should not say anything at all. I think everyones poems are good in thre own ways

People should critique the writing style rather than the opinion of the writer.

Just about all of my poems completely trash society and humanity, but so what?

I've been explicitly downvoted on only one poem. It's called "Truth Lies Within my 'Lies.'" It explicitly states that I don't believe in "god," so I assume that's why the only person that voted gave me a 1.

I think that the only reason nobody downvotes my other poems is because the people who would normally downvote aren't smart enough to figure out any meaning behind them. lol.

I wish there were a way to stop downvoting, but unfortunately, that would require killing most of the human race...and we don't have time for that. Haha.

i think the critics should be written in such a way that the reader should not find it too harsh..

^^ As long as they have reason, I don't believe that harshness should matter.

criticism will happen no matter how well written a poem is. some people just have no respect and will call others names and shit cause they can not hold thier tonges. you have to be able to desifer the...

good meaningful critisism from which the one who wrote it didnt mean to be mean, but meant to help

    from the

shit that people say because they are jelious or envyous or from what ever they are bothered by

lol. as for the name calling... people are messed up and like to see others in pain... haha if you think about it people invented all this shit and seem to be the *intelegnet* race, but they you see them killing eachother and what not lol

oh yea. and on the opinions. no people should not comment on the opinion they author is showing, but rither the style and emotion of the poem

then why is there a comment box? i'm new to this site and 0 out of 800+ views on my poem had no comments which was interesting. anywaise opinions convey what the reader is thinking so it's a two way street.

A poem should not be hated by your opinons, but maybe by the way you express them.
For example, I once did an online quiz (c'mon you guys, I was hyper, it was late and I had nothing else to do.) and in it was a question "How would you label yourself?" It listed things off, like, Original, popular, funny, and then it said a "gay or bi freak.", therefore stating that all gays and bis are freaks. I totally and utterly disagree with that way of expression, because it's intentionally painful. I mean, people are free to express themselves, but...I guess my point, before I started rambling, is that no, you shouldn't be critisized for your opinion, only the way you state it, if inappropriately.

^^ no offense, but you sound like a Kindergarten teacher. Not everyone's going to like your poetry. So it's not like we should jump up and down screaming "I HATE IT!!!" but no one's going to learn from you if you put a happy face on and say "it's good." If there's something you think could be improved in a poem, you should say so.You should say it politely and respectfully. If you've done that and the poet starts freakin' out or something, that's their problem and you didn't do anything wrong.

Its not fair that you are being critizised for your poems, just because they are full of your opinions.. after all poems are opinions of people,if a poem wasnt someones opinion then it would be a poem at all... right?
